I think this means that she's not having a world tour for LG6, it's kinda sad. But if she wants to rest, then I guess I'm okay with it cos this will be easier for her and she doesn't have to travel from places to another.

I can't believe how ridiculous people are acting. Here's a numbered list:

1. It's only a short term deal. 50 shows over a year or two, you waited through the ARTPOP drought, for broken hips to heal, etc. You can wait it out. She can be writing and doing other things off and on.

2. It's easy money. If you were guaranteed 110 million dollars for 50 shows, you'd do it no question. Don't hang her for that decision, that's ludicrous.

3. Easier on her. Like Celine, she can get a little place in Henderson, drive to the show, do the show, go home. Hell, even fly an hour home to Malibu. She isn't 21 anymore, it'll be easier on her bones.

4. Easier on the people who tour. I'm talking those who do like 9 shows a tour. Stay in one spot, see Gaga at night, gamble during the day. It's an awesome life.

I'm totally for the Vegas deal because I have NO PROBLEM forking out money for vacation. I love Vegas, was just there in April SEEING SHOWS, and had the time of my life. It will NEVER indicate the end of a career, that's just some bullshit stan mumbo jumbo you're fed to believe. I really do question some people's dedication to this woman because honestly, you're looking for every little thing to bring her down. Some of you said you turned your stan cards in years ago, but you keep recycling them. Make up your minds!

I love you so much :tony:

2. Music not the bling. Patti Smith was given great advice at the start of her career, she was told to protect her name above all else. In other words, always value legacy over a pay check. When the money is gone your legacy will endure. Choosing "easy money" isn't an admirable quality.

To say that a Vegas residency will "NEVER" indicate the end of a career is obviously untrue. It's not just "stan mumbo jumbo." That perception is based on the very long history of Vegas giving performers a home during the twilight years of their career. When an artist was no longer able to sell records or tour they would put up shop on the strip. It's a relatively recent shift that has made it "acceptable" for prominent acts to get Vegas residencies.

As you said, it's short term and it's easier on her. I don't think this is a bad decision. But I also don't think negative responses to this are ridiculous, at least, not as ridiculous as traveling by egg.

Ok but...Gaga has always challenged the norms of the music industry. This bitch continues to excel, succeed, and push boundaries. Her Vegas residency will be anything BUT a sellout. I feel like this is the same thing as her doing C2C, something to broaden her scope and expand her talent and wisdom of the industry.

Well that was a tumultuous 39 page read.

I don't believe this is as bad as everyone is making it out to be and it could have to do with the fact that she wants to have children in the very near future. This would make it a lot easier for her. :) Also having steady performances for a long span of time will be better for her health issues more than the usual tour and stop schedule...

It's not as though she will be rotting in Vegas. She's going to be doing what she loves to do, which is perform! It will be a whole new show with a new concept and a setlist that will probably be very cool. She will bring back some fan favorites for sure! Its also Gaga...we know that she is making new music as we speak...so she isn't going to be trapped in Vegas being uncreative and gagged. :awkney:

I understand that people have a negative view on residencies in general, but this is a great thing for her personally. So even though I initially had my reservations, I will support this decision of hers.

I also feel like a lot of the "meltdowns" are occurring because of how other fanbases view "residency = flop"...This stan narrative shouldn't have existed to begin with. Maybe all of the people who were making fun of artists like Britney are now feeling a bit self conscious perhaps and lashing out at Gaga because they can no longer feel "superior"?  :reductive:

I think your comparison to Cheek To Cheek is perfect, in that both are creative endeavors that artists traditionally do on the downward trajectory of their career. Gaga had a chance to do something interesting with Tony, but instead she did a Barnes and Nobel commercial and sold some schmaltzy standards at Starbucks. I hope she chooses to push the boundaries a little more with this Vegas residency.

If there is anyone who can reinvent something stale and challenge norms it is Lady Gaga.

LMFAO! What the **** is she thinking?? Does she really think this a good idea?? The beginning of a "new era" more like the beginning of the end of her career. She is done. She's history. You can kiss her career goodbye. This is not the Lady Gaga I fell in love with in 2009. I'm extremely disappointed in her. I'm no longer a fan.

Well clearly that's your point of view. To me, C2C was Gaga truly digging deep into her craft, and the history of New York, where she comes from, and doing something that reflected her upbringing and heritage. It showcased her raw talent, and her education in music. There was nothing downward about it; if anything, it was lateral.

Oh lord this is so funny. Everyone is so extra hahahaha. She is literally the only female superstar to do a Vegas residency in her vocal prime. She is going to blow people away. It’s a two year endeavor. Got that. ENDEAVOR- meaning it’s temporary, and doesn’t keep her from making new music, videos, etc. the only thing this would effect is world tour. But she goes on a world tour every two to three years, so this fits right in that gap. Jesus, people get a grip.

On on top of that, 110 million dollars! This brings her more power, and is insurance for a longer lasting career. This will give her power over her record company on when she can release music, etc. This will bring longevity to her young career.
