The head of the FCC used to be a lawyer for Verizon. Ofc he cares more about their interests than the actual people  

Also, corruption and lobbying is essentially part of the Republican manifesto. For any legislation, ask this: Do the people want it or need it? The answer is always that it doesn't matter if they are being paid and endorsed and re-elected by super PACs. They will always side with these people. (This applies to Democrats sometimes too, but to a lesser extent afaik in raw numbers) 

Which is why until we do something about citizens united and all that ****, we'll be stuck in this cycle

I agree with you all that net neutrality makes common sense, but I haven't seen data to back it up. 

I also want to point out that under net neutrality, we've seen a huge increase in content delivery networks (CDNs), which is internet broadband infrastructure owned by big corporations like Facebook, Youtube, Netflix, etc. themselves. In 2016, "nearly half of all traffic flowing over the internet today actually traverses these parallel routes, according to data from research firm TeleGeography." That doesn't seem good for small Internet businesses, idk how net neutrality repeal/rules would help though.

I'm a little confused with the point that you're trying to make? If I understand right you're trying to say that streaming was already popular?

I understand that it was, but this is 1080p HD streaming we're talking here. Old style broadband can easily support 1080p video streaming, you can achieve this through as little as 10mb/s bandwidth, however 4k video is the new HD standard that is coming into play now and you can forget trying to access that through a 10mb/s connection, you're going to need somewhere around the likes of 100mb/s to even consider streaming in 4k. ISPs have to spend millions and millions of dollars to be able to make sure that they can upgrade their infrastructure to support stuff like this. I'm not sure about any efforts they've made to do so, I just know from experience in computing this is something they'll need to be doing very soon and is a big reason they're looking to get rid of neutrality.

ISPs want rid of this regulation because things are about to get expensive and they dont want to take on the costs themselves, I know on a practical scale this makes sense but its at the burden of the US population, ISPs can easily afford to cover the cost without sectioning off the internet to pay for it.

What do you mean plan? There doesn't need to be one. "Net Neutrality" is just a codename for regulations on ISPs, once the regulations go away the ISPs decide what they want to do with their newfound powers, there's no government intervention from there. We don't know yet what ISPs will do with the power but its assumed that they will use it to section off more costly types of data such as video and make you pay extra to access it.
