In 2018, 25 out of the 34 senate elections will be democrats running for reelection, 10 of those are in states where Trump won. Meanwhile, of the 9 seats the GOP is defending only 2 states are competitive. So the GOP has the advantage on the 2018 map. But in 2020, it's the reverse. Of the 33 seats up in the senate, 22 are republicans running for reelection while the Dems only have 11 seats up for election. All the dem seats are in solid blue states while many of the GOP held seats are in swing states. Meaning the Dems will be likely to pick up.
