We dont usually get involved in making our own wars but we do participate in world efforts

Russia has also given us problems before in breaching our arctic land before without permission

Canada is actually almost in the top 10 biggest Military Spenders in the world. It may seem like we barely have one because we dont get involved in many petty things...

but a decent sized military is there for defence purposes or for joint operations with other Nations

The Air Force is where we spend the most money tho and the most important part of our army so Im surprised Trudeau would buy second hand jets from Australia just to slap Trump and Boeing in the face :rip:

Wow, that's interesting. I didn't know Canada spent so much.

If I were Canada, I'd slap Trump in the face. Isn't he being unfair in the trade negotiations?

Well we spend more than the average Nation but compared to Military Giants like USA, China, Russia, Germany yeah its still a pretty small army

I think we were 12th in the world if i remember correctly in terms of spending

In terms of trade yeah and were not the only Country that thinks so. None of Trumps trade talks with any Nations are going well because he makes unreasonable rediculous demands

Also he doesnt even seem to know the facts...

Canada has an goods-trade surplus with the US which made Trump say we were stealing jobs from USA but when the larger picture is looked at or the numbers broken down it tells a different story

Canada only has a trade surplus in physical goods and thats only if you include Oil and Energy which the US needs to buy from somewhere regardless. If you look only at manufactured goods the US sells more to Us than we sell to the US

More importantly Account-Balance Total Trade which also includes services, sales from Retail companies etc... The US has an over-all trade Surplus with Canada ($12 Billion last year)

We rely so much from US:

- Fruits and Vegetables

- Pre-packaged food

- Machinery and Industrial equipment

- Most large Retail Chains are American

- Refine Oil Products like Gasoline and Diesel

- Fertilizers and petro-Chemicals

But he says the US has a bad deal with Canada that is draining US economy and that NAFTA needs to be udjusted to benefit America more

Our Trade Ministers are having a hard time here cuz Trump doesnt even seem to be aware of all the statistical facts and just makes up crap :rip:

Ummmm yes and no... Hes very Liberal and open minded and reasonable

I dont like the fact tho that he throws money around too casually tho. He keeps coming up with more programs to spend money on

Canada worked hard to go into Surplus in 1996-1997 to pay down debt which we did until 2008. After recession we went back into deficit for a while but the Conservative government had nearly balanced it by 2015

During Elections Trudeau said hed run $10 Billion deficits for 4 years to stimulate economy... $10 Billion after he got elected turned into $30 Billion (although it ended up being less due to stronger economic growth)... he also went back on his 4 year balance deadline

I just dont want the Federal Liberals to turn into the Liberals from my Province. They screwed up the finances big time and we had to cut so mamy things and raise fees on so many things now to balance the budget in Ontario

The size of the deficits Trudeau is running are still small but... the fact that hes going back on plans and keeps coming up with ways to be “generous” before you know it could get out of control

Also free-trade talks with China didnt go so well cause Trudeau started making human rights demands and labor standards etc... Like thats good in Principal but to benefit Canada he should of kept it to the economics of it and not brought up that stuff tbh. China has to decide what laws in that aspect they gonna implement its not really our business

I don't think it's that bad. I mean, just about anything could work good if you fix it up. What makes planes any different? It saves money and resources, no? Instead of making completely new planes, you can buy the parts for the planes and replace them, which is probably still a lot of money, but I don't think it's that bad.

Spoiler

US could NEVER :selena:

If a war has to happen you don't want planes, you want the BEST planes or you'll just be destroyed :selena:

Also by buying new planes you help to finance research, innovation and you help a company to grow and hire hundreds of people

I think thats the point tho. Canada was going to buy about $7 Billion worth of planes but cancelled it to not help that company that along with Trump scrwed over trade deals and now the US wants to put a 300% import tax on aeorospace stuff from Canada and our Government got pissed

I think Australias fleet still in good condition was the next best option but it wasnt ideal. They wanted new but they didnt want to give Boeing business, and company that single handedly screwed over Canada on trade in that sector by telling Trump crazy crap he bought on to

Trudeau literally said: “Boeing is no longer a trusted partner in the defence sector, and the government wouldn't be doing business with them.”

With CETA going on it's a shame to not even consider European manufacturers

What is CETA again?

And Canada wanted specific models so that Military personel didnt have to be trained from scratch all over again...

Maybe none of the European Manufacturers make what we wanted?

Canada has manufacturers like Bombardier as well but we didnt buy from our own Company cuz they dont manufacture what we were looking for

Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement between a free-trade agreement Canada and EU.

Yeah, the training thing makes sense actually
