Mirages 20,259
Past couple years Grammy's are really screwing up ita not what it used to be in the past and I think we should move on to a new academy that gives awards for a true excellence in musical field, talent and quality, not popularity or payola. The album really did deserve the nom, the rest truly didn't. I'm the bitch that's fragile

highlikegaga 9,117
DAMN. and melodrama deserve to WIN. I liked 4:44, so this was a nice nod as well. I'm yet to listen to the whole "Awaken, My Love!" but knowing Childish Gambino i'd love it. And I liked Bruno's album on the first listen, too. So idk what y'all are talking about. doppelganger 4,001
I’m not mad that Melodrama got a nod. 4.44 though...

thatfoxyfeeling 13,379
I don’t think Bruno deserved a nom either, I felt like his album was just copying Uptown Funk and his style hasn’t changed for a while. It’s obvious that the commitee wanted more black artists to be nominated this year due to the current political and social climate. Kendrick deserves to win and I think if Lorde wins there will be backlash.
Sneaky Oliver 22,830
I have a feeling that Childish Gambino is going to win just like Beck did in 2015 (?) or Kendrick. the Grammys must be begging for redemption

I'd also like to see more rock, metal, alternative nominations in the Big Four. I know most successful albums and singles this year were urban, but ita supposed to be about quality and not popularity, I get they're trying to reflect the year in music also in the nominations, but I feel like these genres are always shut out from the important awards. Seether had a great album this year, so did Starset, Incubus and Foo Fighters. Also I don't get why Issues, 4:44 and That's What I Like got nominated for SoY and Despacito as well (probably the worst SoY nomination), this is a category for songwriters and there were songs with far better writing (MR, Praying, Run, Stay,...). I mean...there's also historically low representation of rap and hip-hop in the big four and those were some super well-received albums this year. Even if it was all partially motivated by the debacles the past two years, at least they chose albums that have been recognized as being genuinely good, ya know? Big Fish Theory and Foo Fighters were great, though, you're right. I'm genuinely surprised Vince wasn't showing up more but he also may not have submitted as much. Saint Hollywood 37,364
This probably means that Melodrama won't get the award I need justice for my favorite album of all time However, Kendrick and Gambino also deserve recognition for their efforts

There were, but I still think especially metal records are the most shut out of the Big Four all the time. When was the last time a metal album won AOTY? Never to my recollection. MonsterPaws 2,745
Why are people pressed though? I don't think this is a terrible way of doing nominations (not ideal obviously). But it's sure as hell better than popular vote, which would most likely have the most popular music get voted all the time (unless the Grammy voters are obliged to listen to as much music as possible). We might've gotten Divide nominated (wouldn't mind but not Gramm-worthy imo) instead of albums that DO deserve the nomination, including Melodrama and 4:44 (I retract my last comment criticizing Jay-Z for payola, knowing how the Grammys vote).
