Pop Solo Performance Analysis (Gaga's chances)

So if you haven't noticed there's been a correlation between Song of the Year and Pop Solo Performance but this year there can't possibly be that since the categories have completely different nominees. Let's take a look at past winners

Pop Solo Performance
2017: Hello (also won SOTY)
2016: Thinking Out Loud (also won SOTY)
2015: Happy [Live] (not nominated for SOTY, but it beat that year's SOTY, Stay With Me)
2014: Royals (also won SOTY)
2013: Set Fire to the Rain [Live] (it beat other SOTY nominees Call Me Maybe and Stronger but none of these 2 won SOTY)
2012: Someone Like You (Adele won SOTY that year for RITD)

So if you notice 2017, 2016, 2014, and 2012 are not applicable to our current situation since there's no overlap so Pop Solo cannot share a win with SOTY. That leaves 2015 and 2013 but even then they aren't applicable because that would require the other nominees to be in SOTY with a non-SOTY winning.

What does that mean? It means since Pop Solo Performance has been introduced in 2012 we have never had a situation like this. No assumptions can be made based on the past as we already know from the Big 4 nominations. I know it's not much of a clear direction of where this award is going but my main point is that saying it's automatically going to Ed, Gaga, or Kesha have no reason to say that. It's a tight race.

It’s so weird to see how some songs and albums nominated for the big 4 aren’t nominated in their respective sub categories? Like how weird. Issues is nominated for SOTY but not pop solo and Melodrama for AOTY but not pop album.

i think the a academy wanted maximum diversity  and were sick of the same  albums and songs winning over and over again. If Divide was nominated for AOTY, a pop album win would’ve locked. Still pressed Gaga was snubbed for the big categories like always. MR is her most deserving song she’s ever put out for SOTY. the uncertainty is killing me. Literally, anything could happen on Jan 28th

Definitely, I thought that was weird as well. It's like the committees for Pop didn't think Issues and Melodrama were worthy and the BRP said surprise bitch we're altering the general field to include a female led song and female album.

As much as I want Gaga to win, I have a feeling either: A) Kesha will win, OR B) The women (Gaga + Kesha + Pink + Kelly) will split the vote and Ted Sheeran will come out on top

I think Kesha is winning with Praying, but that Gaga's gonna win with Joanne. But I'd also like Lust For Life to win because LANA DOESN'T HAVE A GRAMMY YET WTF!!! And what is even worse is that the closest thing to a Grammy win for her was Cedric Gervais winning for his remix of Summertime Sadness. Help.

I've only been a monster for about a year or two, but I've noticed a pattern in that whenever this site gets me hyped for an award it almost never works out well

but then again everyone thought Gaga had that Oscar in the bag, so I guess anything could happen with these award shows
