Hitler supporters admire and look up to Hitler's agenda and actions. Gaga uses John Wayne as a symbol for something, as an adjective, to describe a certain type of man. A bad boy - nothing else. prase 0
1. john - a prostitute's client. 2. wayne - from an Old English word meaning “wagonmaker.” He's basically a g.u.y, the game-changer in cultural and artistic sense, to be and/or aspire to be. Ronk 14,762
John Wayne, at this point, is mostly just an image of the big, tough man from the American western movies in the 1930s, '40s, and '50s. At that time, Native Americans were viewed as the bad guys, not just in the movies, but by much of the public as well. As an example of how badly Native Americans were perceived, in the 1956 movie The Searchers, John Wayne's character scalped a Native American, and that was acceptable. Then John Wayne's character tried to kill his own niece because after being kidnapped she had lived too long with the Native Americans and had become like one of them. The director, John Ford, was not supporting racism, but he was depicting it as it was carried out in those times. Growing up in the '50s, kids regularly played "cowboys and Indians" outside with cap guns. The idea was to kill the Indians because, again, they were the bad guys. John Wayne, the person, is a product of those times and a cultural view people had about Native Americans. In this short clip from that movie, John Wayne is the man wearing an orange shirt and a black hat. I live outside the space time continuum.
