The song isn't about the man John Wayne or his character. He's a legendary name and people know of him and he's the first person to come to mind when you think of cowboys. His legendary status is already cemented so it's too late to vilify him for his alleged crimes unless we just wipe him out of history? 

He's a representation of a bad boy from the Wild West.

I didn’t even know this but I guess it’s just another thing to add to Gaga’s messy record of not being informed enough before doing something. Same with DWUW and R. kelly, same with that stupid photo of her posing with fans in black face, same with SiRE and MJ. This is what annoys me the most about her, I know she doesn’t stand for these things and if she knew she wouldn’t have done them but I just wish she would educate herself before doing something that has relation with other people. Why compare those two ENTIRELY different courtcases? It's not a strong justification to make your point tbh. If you mean, where there is smoke there is a fire...well that is not always the case. Each case has it's own specific circumstances and should be looked at without trying to compare it with the context of another courtcase..  If judging courtcases was so simple everyone could be a lawyer/judge.
