Funny you should ask.

Just yesterday I've read an article from Pollstar about Venues Today, Pollstar and their parent company (they are part of the same company).

Venues Today will become Venues Now beginning 2018.

"..The debut of VenuesNow is part of an overall focus and investment in Oak View Group (Pollstar's parent company) Media & Conferences division, which includes VenuesNow, Pollstar, pollstar.com, and the newly launched Pollstar Daily Pulse newsletter..."

...VenuesNow will be focusing on issues, challenges and opportunities related to the rapidly-evolving sports and entertainment facilities business, providing insight on deals, trends, technology, security, touring content, team relations, operations, marketing, and sponsorships, and ancillary businesses including ticketing, food and beverage, promotions, VIP/premium, and everything else pertaining to this vibrant, robust business. Additionally, VenuesNow venue charts will be powered by Pollstar’s industry-leading box office data and information resources, tailored specifically for the venue industry...

The article is big and business-heavy, but it provides a good insight on what is going on in business part of show business.

The only reason masses are using the Billboard-provided info is because Billboard has been around much longer than Pollstar. However, like every dinosaur it will die if it fails to adjust to the rapidly changing digital world around.

In my opinion, it's only a matter of time before we follow the entertainment industry, and switch to Pollstar/Venues Now reporting. Will it be readily accessible like the Current Boxscore from Billboard? Probably not. But it doesn't change the fact that it is the data the industry uses, and so should we.
