Here Are Taylor Swift’s Carefully Curated Partnerships For the Release of Her New Album Reputation

Do you sense it in the air, in the water, in the sounds of the birds? The world has changed: We’ve just entered a Taylor Swift album cycle. For the next few months, ahead of the release of her new record Reputation on November 10, we will be seeing more Taylor than we know what to do with. True to form, Swift is intent on maintaining her cultural ubiquity: Reputation will get a long roll-out, rather than going the surprise-drop route of auteurs like Beyoncé or Kendrick Lamar. To help with that goal, she’s already announced a string of big corporate partnerships to make sure you hear “Look What You Made Me Do” (and other presumed singles) everywhere you go, forever.

UPS

Swift has teamed up with UPS “to deliver a new experience for customers,” as a press release puts it. That experience is… the album. Cut through all the jargon, and basically it seems like UPS is going to ensure that every copy of Reputation ends up where it should, on time, lest they disappoint her customers. Most notably, the trademark UPS trucks will be emblazoned with the cover for Reputation, so you know what’s about to arrive at your doorstep when it rolls through the neighborhood.

Also, if you preorder the album through UPS, you might win concert tickets, memorabilia, and other stuff. Here’s a video promoting the contest, starring Swift:

Look what you made her do… (Send you a nice package, with a bow on it, and then smile at you to make sure you know it’s from here.)

ABC

Beside Taylor Swift, you know what else is back this fall? Primetime ABC dramas such as Scandal, Grey’s Anatomy, and How to Get Away With Murder. Here’s a brand new teaser for those shows, set to Swift’s new single.

College football

College football is also back, too. Alabama (ranked No. 1) and Florida State (ranked No. 3) face off a week from tomorrow, and a new ad for the game is scored to—guess what—”Look What You Made Me Do.” How does noir-ish, Lorde-esque pop square away with Nick Saban’s grim visage, prepared to reign havoc on yet another football season? Who knows, but it’s here.

Target

Taylor Swift and Target go back—she did store-specific commercials for Speak Now,Red, and 1989, to go along with bonus content for copies of the album found only at the retailer. From a press release: “Target is teaming up with Taylor again for an exclusive edition of the album, offering two unique and collectible magazines created by Taylor herself.” The magazines seem akin to Frank Ocean’s Boys Don’t Cry publication: They’ll have photos of Taylor, handwritten lyrics, personal poetry, and other stuff. Here’s what the magazines look like.

Hmmm, okay!

Here’s a statement from Mark Tritton, chief merchandising officer at Target:

“Target’s guests love Taylor Swift. In fact, she’s one of our best-selling artists of all time. Our guests also love that they can always count on us for exclusives they can’t find anywhere else, and we’re thrilled to offer two incredible, Target-exclusive collectible magazines when Taylor’s latest album arrives, giving guests yet another reason to choose Target this fall.”

Reputation is out November 10. We’ll update this post as more partnerships reveal themselves."

Let's not forget her partnership with Diet Coke, Papa John's Pizza, KFC etc. For her past eras.

Kind of rings the bell. Cuz this is the same exact formula Gaga and Troy did with the Born This Way Era which made the album Gaga's first million selling week. I hope they would put the same amount of investments for LG6:excited2:

wow i read the last point and i think that was the problem with BTW longevity....

"Give people something to love" , Born This Way is a great album but at the end only the monster love it (including me) , the GP was waiting a continuation of The Fame with easy  dance pop hits

i though gaga was so brave to release an album like that when she was on top of her game but in terms of momentum i think this was the beggining of her fall....

now she's in a great position of course and we don't know what the next era could bring but i think the next one will be very organized and with some easy bops that will bring her back on top

I don't believe that this era will be as successful for Swift as BTW was for Gaga.

The future's uncertain and the end is always near.

but is it smart to release Ready for It? as a single

literally the worst song on the album and also the album opener

so many other songs I can think of I Did Something Bad, Getaway Car, Don't Blame Me, Call It What You Want, King of My Heart

so far the rest of the songs are better then the singles released :toofunny:

Also what's with the lame already done before copying Ghost in the Shell look for a music video that didn't do anything, LWYMMD was so epic coming from that was so disappointing it's giving me Million Reasons video tease :selena:

Cause once you let it go you better know it's gone

I'm glad Gaga is not that big as she used to be.

Now I understand what it feels for people to literally have to listen to someone EVERYWHERE and EVERYTIME. It's irritating when you aren't a fan of the artist.

Yes. That's what I meant by saying big. I'm glad she's not overexposed anymore.

I have the feeling people appreciate her more than they used to, 'cause we don't hear Bad Romance or Borm This Way 24/7. The same with other people.
