...Britney's debut song "...Baby One More Time" debuted on the Billboard Hot 100. The song entered on the chart at #17.

It's crazy to think that we have had 19 years of Britney Spears! :diane:

This is also the week that she started as the opener for the NSYNC in Concert tour.

Congrats on 19 years Britney!

Wow, I remember it like it was yesterday. I was 9 years old at the beach the first time I heard it. Music was changed... :diane:

Well it doesn't feel like 19 years of her because the former Britney left us after 2009 and has been replaced by a lookalike ever since.

God I remember this like it was yesterday.

If you weren't alive between the ages of 6 to 16, you'll never understand the grip Britney had on American. It was even more wild than the grip Gaga held in the late aughts/early '10s. Phenomenon doesn't even cut it.

Agreed, i had just turned 7 and she was everywhere. The media put her on such a pedestal. She was a perfect role model for little girls and pre-teens and parents loved that. She wasn't polarizing, which helped her sell so many albums. Even though Christina Aguilera was getting more #1s in the US than Britney, it was Britney's persona that made her a much bigger star

it was as if she were our President, the amount of exposure she was given during that initial album run. And it only increased for Oops, before slowing down dramatically over the following years.

But, for a time, Britney was the most powerful person in the entire world.
