Taylor is one of the best songwriters we have in pop music right now. I'd argue that her songwriting matches or maybe even is better than Gagas. For her last 4 albums, she's evolved her sound in a way that sounds and feels natural and not forced - and has been met with critical acclaim each time. Prism and Witness has aged horribly. Taylor's visuals are always on point too, I prefer her simple style over Katy's but that is just preference. I like Taylor's voice better too. Personality wise, yeah Katy spoke out one or two times in her music and is vocal with her political views, but Taylor has advocated against bullying and she has spoken out and said she doesn't judge people from their sexuality, skin color, or religion, and commented on Obama's presidency as the happiest the country has been for a while. So I don't buy into these claims that she's a horrible racist republican and Katy is new age moral goddess. Katy is goofy and seems kind but she's been just as defensive as Taylor when it comes to their art, career, and reputation, understandably. So I reject the idea of Katy having better character because she doesn't write about her exes or because her lead single was political instead of a defense track like LWYMMD - to be quite honest, we don't know who has better character because we only see what they want us to see about them. Also, imo Katy is a realy fakecpersson and with everything she does she is searching for peoples approval and want's to be "cool" to the point where she is cringy and awkward. Also the bubble-gum pop she is doing at the age of 35 is irritating, she is trying the same formula since 2008, but since she can't work with Dr. Luke(because that's what people expect, not because she doesn't wants to) all her songs sound unfinished and realy bad. Aside from few rumours spread by the media, Taylor has never done anything offensive and all she does is what she thinks it's right, not what she thinks people want. Yeah, she is kinda cheesy, but at least she is a better persson than Katy, that writes her own material and is far less embarassing that what Katy Perry turned into this year. Agree maybe with the Witness era... but Taylor literally does the same. Like, she literally built an era off the media calling her a snake... what other artist would do that? Taylor is realy good at marketing and despite using very obvious tactics, she makes sure they doesn't look desperate in people's eyes, but rather cool. Katy on the other hand........ She used every possible meme there was and on top of that all memes she used were dead since 2015....... Also 1898>Prism and Reputation>Witness. You can clearly see what Katy used to do to promote her stuff every time she released new works and those shitty promo were usually totally meaningless ,especially in the Witness era. At least Taylor did not bring her life(that's not even Katy's real life) to youtube for days just for album sales lol! 2.It is so reasonable for everyone to support anyone they prefer. We dont need to stan someone just for your so-called "balance". When you have better works( but some truly cringey behavior), people will stan for sure. 3.Taylor actually did plenty of philanthropy including those donation and back up many public activities such as anti-sexual harassment marches. Tbh, almost every A-list celebrity has their " philanthropic history". I dont know why you try that hard to mislead us to consider Taylor was a selfish singer writing songs or planning things just for fame and wealth. 4.The music says it all. I became a fan of Taylor just in this Reputation era because her music really grew on me this time. Instead, Katy's basic works and her desperate promotion still annoy me and cannot change my thought that she is just good at those gimmicks. Yeah, maybe songs from TeenageDream are really interesting and successful, but they are literally nothing when compared with 1989, SpeakNow or Fearless. 5.It's nothing wrong to write songs about our relationship or our ex. Everything that can really touch us is worth their efforts to write into a song. We need songs to improve our world , but we also need songs to share our feelings. We need to admit Taylor is really a talented artist and own all the enviable conditions to rise to fame. I am the one ( like many people) who is a little JEALOUS of her. Even though I’m not a fan of both. I was a little bit of a fan of Katy when she released Teenage Dream. Man, what an iconic pop album. The songs and visuals were so awesome. Prism is such a great album because there was a lot of upbeat songs at the same time she matured her music without coming off as cringe. Witness was like 10 steps back.
