Your specialist friend may need retraining. Look up DAT and microphone displacement with backing and feedback. Taylor still sang live whether the sound engineer topped up the back track to a higher lever. The slower song was 100% live with no back track. Depending on the day or health or sound quality of the performer or performance, Jlo, Brit, Gaga, Madonna all use the same thing, they are still singing live its the volumization of the mix.
