um... he admits we cannot yet decide if gay marriage/parenthood is not affecting others' well being, says that's not what matters for the point he's trying to make and basically only proves that being attracted to the same sex cannot be spoken of as moral/immoral and thensomehow concludes that he just gave people a reason to vote for gay marriage and not sex :toofunny:

it's not like I disagree or anything, it's just that this video was pretty much pointless and he isn't doing a good job at hiding the fact that he does this to act like a smartass and get paid in the process, especially with that nonsensical clickbait... and I scroll down to see nothing but comments about how smart/hot he isĀ :toofunny:

I mean, I get it, you're gay but... like...Ā :toofunny:

This basically... I don't disagree with the overall notion, mind you... but... Maybe it's cuz I don't find him attractive at all that I think he didn't say anything particularly smart or usefulĀ :bon:

Like, ok, you'll convince a person homosexuality in itself is amoral, they'll just come back and say 'then acting upon it is immoral, and marriage and sex is a conscious act, aha' - back to square one you go...

British accent and poshed up speech doesn't work on meĀ :madge:

It's a joke! When you give me that look, it's a joke!

She denied it but somebody released a tape of her saying it and she was forced to "apologize" and made some excuse up how she wasn't homophobic, just concerned for other people's health. :chica:

did you even read my comment?

I don't think you necessarily even watched the video, or at least with a logical perspective. Sexual attraction is not moral or immoral, it is void of morality. The point he attempts to make is that gay marriage should be voted for because it vies for basic equality between the two sexes, and since an attraction or relationship between two men or two women, as with a man and a woman, is not indicative overall of morality, it just becomes an issue of human rights.Ā

the point he's making won't convince anyone to vote for gay marriage. people who will vote against it will do it because they believe it will affect society and the economy in a negative way, not because they can't bare the thought/sight of a gay couple.

people only care about themselves and that's the only "logical perspective" that matters.

and the "I get it you're gay" comment was not about him lol

one last thing: Immanuel Kant be here. ever heard this one?

He's not really pointing out anything new tbh. He's simply pointing out what we all process when we decide if something is a moral issue. The fact of the matter is that people who are against homosexuality do think its conscious and it affects the well being of others.

Don't get me wrong, it's not ineffective. Most humans, ignorant ones especially, don't like being told they are wrong. The best way to change someone's mind is to make it seem like it was their idea. This video just points out a fallacy in thinking gay people merely existing is immoral.

Also, being homosexual is not an action. You cannot use morality to judge something that's not an action. It's like asking if a soap is moral or not.

And tbh, we can't be rational with homophobes because they usually are hypocrites who choose which parts in the bible they want to follow and tell others how they should live their lives like they are gods themselves.

nor is it immoral

Ā

an incredibly interesting video to watch. To sum up what he basically says, is that being gay is not in the sphere of ethics, therefore it can't be judged for it's morality cause it just doesn't apply. It's like telling an Asian person they are immoral/moral for being Asian...

In order for something to be within the realm of ethics, it has to be 1. a conscious choice and 2. affects wellbeing (to oneself or to others.) Homosexuality is neither of that. SomeĀ may say "people become gay because of their environmentĀ therefore it is a choice" but you can argue that one's taste in music, or taste in fashion, is a result of their upbringing and wasn't a conscious choice, rather it was something that they acquired over time... in terms of wellbeing, it isn't hurting anyone. And for those dumbasses that think that it effects the global population, remind them that there are almost 8 ****ing billion people on this planet and homosexuality has existed since we have. And there are plenty of other scientific explanations for it, taking care of orphaned younglings, population control, etc. but you can google that and determine the legitimacy yourself.

Just a good point to bring up, if you ever come across or are attacked byĀ a homophobe.

Not by any means trying to sound like imĀ shaming this or anything but ur argument about the global population i find a bit off šŸ˜…

Ā

gays have always existed but until the last 20-30 years few were open about it and many wouldnt even admit it to themselves and lived the lives of straights out of social expectation. Up until recently theyd get married and reproduce like everyone else so it wouldnt have affected population. Few cultures eccepted it in the past. Ancient Greece and a couple others were rare exeptions

Ā

Secondly Earths population is due to peak within our lifetime asĀ population is agingĀ and birth rates keep dropping like a stone in developing and developed world

Ā

Its exepcted By 2050 population will be as high as it will ever be then enter terminal decline

Ā

Science fiction movies and general population still depict the future with the general belief we will forever grow in numbers andĀ over-population willĀ keep getting worse but the demographic trendsĀ do not support that outcome

Ā

Within a few decades population globally will be falling by several Million a year if trends dont change with Africa being the only continent still with Natural Population growth (Natural means excluding gains byĀ immigration)
