My thoughts on Reputation

So my thoughts on Repootation after listening to it non stop since release 

First of all, 15 tracks are too much Gorgeous and Nice Things are pure filler, Dress is cute but it also screams filler, and So It Goes... is very forgettable and kinda cringey 

Imo the album would be perfect at 11 tracks 

1. End Game

It's cute but I was expecting more. The hook isn't that strong. It sounds more like an album opener than Ready tho, at least imo.

2. ...Ready For It?

The Blank Space of this album, fight me. Amazing song should have been the lead, maybe it wouldn't have been as successful as Shake It Off but it def would have been bigger than Look and has the most "pop" chorus out of the whole album!

3. I Did Something Bad

An amazing album track. I don't know if it would work as a single but it's a bop and the production is fire. The bridge is also great!

4. Look What You Made Me Do

My opinion on this song is that if she had sang the "I got smarter, I got harder..." pre chorus instead of the cringey "The old Taykor is dead" line, it would have been a much better song. Anyway I still kept it in the album because it fits the theme great and it's shady 

5. Don't Blame Me

Great ballad, reminds me of You're Not Sorry for some reason. Overall one of the strongest songs on the album.

6. Getaway Car

THE BEST SONG ON THE ALBUM!!! It's her best song since State Of Grace/All Too Well. Blank Space and Out Of The Woods are shaking. Style is quaking. 1989 is shook  Future single hopefully. The key change slays so hard, makes it sound like a soundtrack song. 

7. Delicate 

This Is A Summer Bop! It's surprisingly very catchy. The last chorus hits hard!

8. Dancing With Our Hands Tied

Also an amazing pop song! Perfect for radio.

9. King Of My Heart

I don't really like how much her voice is altered in the chorus but it's VERY CATCHY and overall a good album track. Not single material but still slays! 

10. Call It What You Want

It's a very Taylor song but it also follows the new sound she's going for this era. Good song overall.

11. New Year's Day

Cute album closer. I like it.

Overall I think the album has some fillers, but ignoring them, it's a solid pop record and it has some GREAT songs! It's more thematically cohesive than 1989, but 1989 has more highs. Depending on your mood and taste, you might like it more/less/just as much as 1989, but objectively both albums are pretty close. I do thing 1989 is slightly better tho. RED remains unbothered

Now to the singles 

Obviously Look shouldn't have been a single 

 I think Ready For It would have been a great lead single. It implements both the pop sound and the trap/hip hop sound that's popular and it's also super catchy. 

The second single would have to be End Game just cause it has two big features and that alone would have gave it a decent chart run. It's also pretty trendy and I can see it smashing on streaming.

Getaway Car as the 3rd single for the winter period because, it's just makes sense and it's the best song on the album.

After that I think Delicate should be a single. Very catchy, very trendy.

And lastly as the 5th single I'd choose Dancing since it's just such a pop song!

if it's the tour song, it means that it will flop 

Dancing With Our Hands Tied deserves to flop, the verses had potential but the chorus is messy. I should've rated it lower in the reputation megarate tbh
