You don’t know what ACLU is, do you? This isn’t about stan wars.

Don’t be like that.

When did I claim to know them and what will knowing them change in this discussion? I said since she won against a multibillionaire company like apple, she can win against whatever that organisation is. And what does stanwars have to do in this, they are they ones that are running out of valid arguments so are demeaning my taste and calling me delusinal because I stan taylor :toofunny:

You are so defensive and pressed over all this, it's kinda sad. Like chill out already :awkney:

I’m neither defensive nor pressed. I’m simply voicing my opinion and having a discussion, since, this is what forums are for, you know? Meanwhile y’all are here calling her a snake and dragging her music quality into this for some reason. So i’m not sure who’s pressed now :oprah:

1989 sold more copies in the first week than Joanne has in a whole year and without streaming :air: She doesn’t need them because nothing is hurting her sales :air:

You were saying that she needs them so I gave you a fact why she doesn’t need them. :toofunny:

No no, she capital NEEDS them. Otherwise why would she put her stuff on Spotify after making a huge deal about denouncing them?

2017 isn't 2014. Streaming is stronger than ever. She might still be pulling numbers with pure sales, but it wont be anything close to what she hopes to achieve with this next thing. Don't bring Gaga in here. That's like comparing McDonalds with... I don't know ... anything.

Now, if you're not gonna get back to discussing the fact that she and her scumbag lawyer team tried to bully people into silence and at the same time not publicly denouncing alt-rightism, and for that got bitch slapped by the ****ing ACLU then don't bother quoting me.

No, it wasn't her fault that alt-right are using her as a symbol.

But suing the writer who is pointing out the issue isn't the answer. Just because someone mentioned the ugly truth doesn't mean they're wrong. Uncover your ears and face the music.

I fell down the stairs once as an actor.

Guys, read the comments in the article.

They seem off and for a moment I thought they were written by Taylor / her lawyers :emma:

lmao no, her preorders reached 400k, that’s twice as much as joanne’s debut week sales including streaming. So she capital doesn’t need them, stop being delusional. + it’s their fault for picking up on what people are saying about her instead of what she has to say and what she has do. It’s like people saying Gaga killed Lena and then some shitty organisation reporting about it just because they heard people say it. It’s not professional at all.

On a serious note, what the hell was she thinking trying to sue a company for simply stating that neo-nazis and white-supremacists use her as their white icon while she remains silent about it. Like, girl, you’d sue a company for pointing out facts, but won’t denounce literal nazis and white supremacists who use your image for their own gain??

Talk about reputation... :toofunny:

Girl Taylor is one of the biggest pop girls in the world rn if she took time to address every accusation brought against her she would never get any work done.

You make such a good point with this. For all that she gets called a smart businesswoman, Taylor has made some pretty bad business choices at times. She refused 1989 being put on Spotify which meant that its streaming power was zero, resulting in her having no streaming to account for when she released her songs. She's always struggled to get hits in the UK, so to not have her songs available to stream meant her chances of getting a #1 were even lower under the new system. If streaming didn't count, Shake It Off and Blank Space (maybe even Bad Blood as well) would have unquestionably gone to #1 in the UK, she was at the top of the itunes chart for a week and pre-streaming, that was all you needed to get a #1 single here. But as it was, streaming had just started being factored in and she had zero streaming power and had to settle for #2. I think she's finally realised what a bad judgement this was over time and given in to Spotify and surprise, surprise, she gets her first ever UK #1 with Look What You Made Me Do. Which only serves to prove exactly how much she does need streaming now more than ever. I predicted she would relent with this release. Streaming is an undeniable force now and if you don't have it, you ain't getting #1's. Some weeks, you might be lucky to even get top tens. As Taylor is still largely an American force and struggles globally, she needs streaming to pick up the slack worldwide as well.

Remember that she's got that marketing gimmick to give fans the chance to get first in the queue when buying tour tickets, to get them one step ahead of ticket scalpers. You earn points for supporting her, with some ways counting for more than others, especially if they involve big amounts of money. These include streaming her singles, watching her music videos, pre-ordering her album and buying her merchandise. That's partly why her pre-orders are so high - fans know pre-orders will push them up the concert queue and it gives them more points. There were apparently posts on her site from little girls saying stuff like: "I've pre-ordered 4 copies but its still saying I have no points, what's going on?" and suchlike. There are fans buying multiple copies to stand a good chance. This gimmick is being called out by lots of people when this 400k figure was announced. Who knows what this figure would be if she hadn't introduced this scheme?

Stans always buy multiple copies, buy merch, watch her videos etc, so might as well make doing so help them ensure getting a ticket for her tour instead of tickets scalpers getting them. So I don't see how helping HER fans is making everyone pressed?

But this is practically forcing fans to do these things involving money in order to benefit herself. It's just a big ploy to get more money off fans. A lot of people don't buy merch, even if they're mega fans, because it's just too expensive, for example. But this scheme means if they do buy something, they'll get further up the queue, so it's seen as money well spent. So now a whole lot of people are buying merch who wouldn't normally, meaning Taylor gets so much more money than usual. She's all about the money and that's what's off-putting. Schemes like this seem to have good intentions but when you realise that they favour rich fans over poor fans, it leaves a bad taste in the mouth. And stans don't always buy multiple copies because, as I've just said, not all mega fans have enough money/parents won't give them the money to do that.

buying 1 album (which a causal fan would do) still makes them ahead of the tickets scalpers, so? it's not like she said you need to buy a certain number in order to ensure a ticket

Obviously she can’t possibly address every single accusation thrown her way, but this isn’t some small obscure thing. There are literal nazis and white supremacists using her image and artistry to promote their hateful and racist agenda. That’s a HUGE deal, especially in the political climate that the US is currently under.
