A recent survey by a national commission on human rights reported that more than half of all those surveyed considered themselves “not at all” prejudiced. Yet, in the same survey, the number of racist, anti-Jewish and anti-Arab incidents reported in 2015 rose 22.4 percent from a year earlier to a record 2,034. Issues such as police brutality and employment discrimination are discussed more often in the mass media. But a ban on racial or ethnic statistics prevents French authorities from knowing the actual size of the minority population or how widespread inequality is." I know it's a bit off topic - but I just think it is ridiculous to act as though the US is the only country that would ever do THAT. I just think saying this kind of stuff is just annoying and creates this unnecessary line.

I'm talking about the consideration of the race in media As for the "racism" no need to quote some articles (without even giving the source) it's a well known fact since a big chunk of the population voted Marine Le Pen at the last election. However it's clearly not as big as in the US

Racism is an issue around the globe in different forms - your post just came off as holier than thou No it doesn't. I specifically restrained my post to a particular field not once but twice in two lines. There is no much left for interpretation. So racism may be "an issue around the globe in different forms" but that's not the point neither of my post nor of the OP since it's focused on media. My point is relevant and still stands. The US has a huge issue with race in the media that other countries don't have since a loooong time.

Which doesn't involves race, at least in this case. Because when races are reversed it's more probable for it to be a racist type of crime rather than a mysoginy type of crime. Simple. Also it sells more so... Yeah. “It sells more” is a valid argument, but saying that it’s more probable to be a racist crime when the races are reversed is insanity. It’s the same exact action. We can’t just assume racism in anything a white person does. There are terrible people across the board, regardless of race. Ma ma pa pa pa

What on earth do you have to back that up? 1 hour ago, derpmonster said: The Thoughtful Centrist™ strikes again. Republicans and the right wing excuse blatant racism and even promote it which is free speech so it is fine. Leftists and liberals condemn it and try to point out the injustices by exposing truths that make the said centrist uncomfortable. Of course the former is the more reasonable! If A can do this and it is okay, why can't B? Because nuance, because context. And I will say it--more often than not, The Thoughtful Centrist™ is a white person because they don't experience the direct effects of institutional racism, so of course it is easy to trivialize and equate with their own struggles (that no one is invalidating, by the way). Case in point: Neo-nazis vs Black Lives Matter on violence. Who thinks exterminating entire races or kicking them out of a country is any different from or worse than breaking a window? Not I, The Thoughtful Centrist™. Your very general points don’t justify the blatant race-mongering by the media. I also agree with your generalities ironically, but disagree with the methodologies conducted by the news. Also, to be clear, I see what points you are making and the belittling nature of your post. I agree with most of what you’re implying. 1 hour ago, derpmonster said: No, sir, it wouldn't be. Institutional racism would be the fact that police wouldn't respond to it well or the offenders wouldn't be prosecuted just as much as an offender of the other race would have. Institutional means not at an individual level. Please try to understand what you're criticizing before making fallacious arguments. Why does your side constantly resort to personal attacks? You also missed the point. You should have stuck to broad generalizations like your former post. At least then you didn’t address anything specific so you couldn’t come across as being incorrect. My post you quoted referred to how it would be seen as evidence of institutional racism, when clearly it isn’t. Once again, ironically I agree with you. Perhaps you could enter my topics without first deciding to argue against me just out of principle. Ma ma pa pa pa
