The known motive behind the NY attack

It's pretty interesting to look at Trump's response to both this attack and the one in LV. I mean, what did he do in the very next day after eight died and 20+ were injured?

- Lashed out at the "animal" behind the truck attack and threatens to throw him in Guantanamo Bay
- Vows to terminate the visa lottery that helped draw him to the US
- Lies about the already strict vetting procedures
- Brands the justice system a "laughing stock" in various tweets
- Accuses Democratic Sen. Chuck Schumer of enabling attack via his visa program
- Considers banning Muslims from the attacker's country

And yet all he had to say after 58 people died and 550 more were injured in a mass shooting (what some consider domestic terrorism though it doesn't fit the literal definition of terrorism) was "thoughts and prayers" and "now isn't the time to discuss gun control". Then he swept it under the rug and moved on.
