I've actually gone over a way too similar hair experience this year, from dark to platinum blonde, and ended up bleaching the rest off to a buzz cut. It worked out strangely enough, and my hair is growing back so I can empathize on what she sorta coastered thru, I do hope she's really doing* ok and better.
