Cutting our meats particularly beef would be the best way to cut greenhouse gas emissions but it’s just not realistic

I don't see anything wrong with factories making vegan convenience food if it makes going vegan more accessible and appealing to people. Not all processed vegan products are even that unhealthy, it depends from product to product.

Some new lab made vegan foods could even help combat world hunger and reduce dependence on livestock.

It does depend from product to product, yes. Still, I would rather eat something natural.

Well that is good! (your second statement)

Spoiler

Well, I’m not saying that we shouldn’t eat vegetables or that vegans foods do not have their pros. I just believe that a diet containing only vegetables is not as good as a regural diet.

Meat, cheese and milk are appetizing, yes.

If we truly believe that no living thing should have to die for our dinner, we shouldn’t eat at all. If we truly believe that all life deserves equal respect, why not equalize ourselves by embracing the elegant fact that we are all driven by the same hungers that motivate any other creature - the squirrel in the forest, the vole in the meadow, the bear on the mountainside, the deer in the valley?

I copied that. :selena:

Can you see that there is a world of difference between the intentional keeping and slaughter of livestock (Over 56 billion animals a year) and incidental deaths caused by agricultural practise?

And don't get me wrong, I try to avoid any foods from an industry causing great devastation to species and their habitats I.e Palm Oil. I don't condone that kind of thing at all.

Just like you could walk or take the bus instead of riding in a car.

Planes fill up. Last minute decisions are made. Everyone uses a private jet so no I don't really think we can argue he shouldn't use one

Who said I’m not walking, riding a bike and using car as my only means of transportation? :selena:

Well you know that could be true (the second statement), but he flew 6 times in 6 weeks with a private jet. Coincidence? I think not.

No, I don’t use a private jet and those who do, do not claim themselves to be environmentalists.

You can defend him as an environmentalist (I do), but this action was not right.

I appreciate your concerns regarding the restrictive nature of a vegan diet.

But in all honestly, a person can obtain every* nutrient they require in sufficient amounts** only eating plant-based foods.

*B-12 requires a supplement (because only bacteria synthesis it)

**probably a good idea to consume foods fortified in vitamin D if you're not living in a sunny country.

Yikes some people in this thread :saladga: We can all do things to prevent pollution, a plant based diet is a great way to do that, why drag the man for doing something good with his fame? :madge:

I thought that was the case (and still do somewhat).

But this is a complete myth.

Just look for canned beans, grains (not the fancy ones. Rice, oats etc. are more than enough), tofu which is crazy cheap, veggies (fresh, frozen, canned if you're desperate), pasta (craaaazy cheap in practically any country!).

If you're in the US (think: Trader Joe's or Costco NOT Whole Foods) veganism is even cheaper than where I'm from.

A good rule of thumb: avoid anything with "VEGAN" in all-caps. Basically avoid anything directly marketed towards vegans. Vegan Oreos? Nope, just buy regular oreos, and look through the labels for non-vegan ingredients.

And the list goes on and on.

If anything veganism can be way cheaper if you know where to look (shouldn't be too hard).

Will defs try it out :diane:

No, I’m not a vegan. I like meat and I eat meat that hasn’t been slaughtered (if there is a way :selena:). Don’t come for me sis. I’m not that educated about vegetarianism.
