OMG it can only be lars von trier!

Bjork swore off acting after Dancer In The Dark and never gave a detailed explanation. Nicole Kidman also worked with him on Dogville and didn't return for the sequel (and replaced with Bryce Dallas Howard).

I'm glad women are raising their voices against sexual harassment in the music industry, as well as in the film business.

Enough is enough.

She already came forward about this in 2001, but no one really payed any attention to it.

Not in detail though, we all knew they fought but about what ?  He's known to emotionally abuse his actors to get a "performance" out of them but I didn't know what exactly happened. There were no accounts of him inappropriately touching his actors.

From Guardian:

Björk has vowed to never again make a movie after repeatedly rowing with director Lars Von Trier on the set of her debut flick Dancer in the Dark. Online music magazine Q reports that relations were so strained on set that Björk reportedly ripped up a blouse she didn't want to wear in a scene and even ate shreds of it before storming off the set.

Nicole Kidman on Lars and Bjork:

Kidman also recalled working with the notoriously difficult and provocative Lars von Trier, who has a penchant of putting his female leads through the emotional ringer. “I’m obviously drawn to difficult people,” she said half-joking when asked about working with von Trier. “He had just had that big blow out with Bjork [on the set of ‘Dancer In The Dark,’ the musician actually vanished during filming for three days], and it was like, ‘Ok, I’m going off to troll land to Sweden to make a film, in a dark place.’ “

His movies are almost always about the struggle of its female characters (who are often the lead), heavily inspired by the suffering that his mother had gone through. I really love Dancer In The Dark and Dogville.

Ugh, I feel so horrible for her. It sounded like that toxic environment traumatized her, especially with the other people making her feel like she was the one with a problem.

That tidbit about how she came from "a position of strength" as a musician, to being humiliated is also disconcerting. It reminds me of what Sarah Polley said in her op-ed about Harvey Weinstein and becoming a director after leaving behind her career as an actress: "I had no idea, until then, how little respect I had been shown as an actor."

Also, I recently watched an Hollywood Reporter actress roundtable discussion from 2011, and Helena Bonham Carter mentioned that she was up for the lead part in Breaking the Waves, and one of the reasons she turned it down was because she just didn't get a good feeling about Lars von Trier.

Imagine trying something you're invested on for the first time and a pig of a man spoils it so much for you it makes you ban the thing from your life forever.

I just hope people coming forward continues. (Bryan Singer, I'm looking at you) It's really sad and upsetting what is happening behind the scenes and/or closed doors and these disgusting people should be revealed and punished.

Of course, this is nothing new or surprising, in any industry, but hopefully this will signal some change.
