She first lost most of the pop fans by shading Gaga, her feud with Taylor, making fun of Britney, she supported Hillary and lost half the US, never changed her music, people saw she can't sing/perform, the Obama and racist jokes, the awkwardness and at least 100 more reasons. If such a mess would have happened to Gaga during ARTPOP, it would have been re-used and amplified all over the internet... Somehow, it seems like no one cares about KP failing.
