AMA nominees are actually based on NIELSEN DATA. Therefore the nominees are legit based on the best performing songs, albums and artists within the AMA time frame. Then the public gets to choose their favorite from that list. So from this time last year, to this time this year Rihanna, Gaga and Alessia have been the top 3 female artists. Which makes sense cuz that's literally the time Joanne has been out. Rihanna's ANTI has continued to stream well, Love on the Brain was big and she featured on a few songs. And Alessia had Scars to Your Beautiful, Stay and the new Logic song (features get credited as much as leads). "The American Music Awards have nominations based on sales, airplay, activity on social networks, and video viewing" So if you're mad at the AMA's, be mad at the GP instead.
