bumblebee 2,528
This time, we're going to leave aside the most common comparison which critics make when it comes to discussing Gaga's artistry Let us instead refer to painting metaphors. Calling all visual artists and graphic designers of Gagadaily. Tony Bennett, Gaga's dear friend and collaborator, has called her "America's Picasso" on a number of different occasions: "She’s very strong. I know it sounds way out, but she could become America’s Picasso if they leave her alone and let her just do what she has to do," - Tony Bennett for Rolling Stone. "Tony also called her “the Picasso of pop”, a claim that holds slightly more water than it might otherwise given Bennett’s status as a keen painter," - The Telegraph What draws the comparison? Some say that it's Picasso relentless determination to never stop changing styles during his career; like him, Gaga has become the dance, pop, jazz and country queen They also say that when Picasso swayed styles, the whole movements of art changed, and Gaga's influene on modern pop is hard to deny; even her less commercially successful records and style are impactful Finally, Picasso is widely believed to have mastered the medium of everything he worked in. We, too, know, that Gaga is a perfectionist about every new thing she does. When she creates cool music videos with prominent directors, her desire to master every medium leads her to directing some of her music videos herself The questions are: 1. Is there any other painter, modern or classic, who, in your opinion, fits the comparison with Gaga more than Picasso does? 2. Do you assoсiate any of Gaga's albums or album persona with specific famous paintings or painters?

Hebi 13,928
I also have been know that Picasso started with super realistic and perfectionist paintings and then he was doing it more minimalistic and abstract over and over through the years. He went from painting perfect to some of the most weird paintings. I think Gaga started with "The Fame/Monster" as the realistic/perfectionist painting of Picasso. And now, with "Joanne" is so much more abstract and minimalistic and only some people understand it (same for ARTPOP). That was so Picasso
HiddenWeirdo 4,268
First paintings of Picasso - The Fame Blue/dark period of Picasso paintings - The Fame Monster (dark theme) abstract drawings - ARTPOP he also made sexual references and themes and got inspired by his hometown and later by other cities. Picasso's relation to Màlaga is like Gaga's with New York. It's always in their heart no matter were they go.
