Disgusted but not surprised. The United Arab Emirates are not exactly known for being open-minded. Hard to believe they live in the same century as us :madge:

you think he deserved to go to jail for 3 years and losing his job for accidentally touching a man and drinking alcohol?

they also moved his court date without telling him

See that’s the thing, how do you know it was accidental? I bet that **** happens all the time in bars but since he’s the first to be convicted makes the story all sketchy af. Ofcourse he’d say anything to defend himself, and it’s expected from the UK media to stand with him. But for me to get a more clear pic of this story I’d have to know the accuser side + the police feed.

And lets be real, if this story was on a man+woman y’all wouldn’t be so fast to believe him.

did you read the article? it's pretty clear the police are treating him unfairly on purpose just so they have reasons to detain him plus it's dubai so it's very likely it was an accident

I do agree with u theres probably more details to the story. In fact i pretty much assumed that when i read this article

however even if it was intentional its far too extra

unless he started removing clothing or being forceful 3 years is an exageration even if it was intentional so that says something about the culture

if someone started being sexual with me and i didnt want that attention id simply ask them to stop and wouldnt bother reporting unless the person just wouldnt let go. And even then i wouldnt want my offender to go to hail for 3 whole years unless he or she did something more serious

This is seriously so stupid and pathetic, because there are literally TONS of business man and other rich people in Dubai who pay to have sex with guys, they literally fly them from all over the world and the government knows it but guess what? They have money and connections and thats why they are safe..

But god forbid that another man *accidentally or not* touches another man in public..

A true MESS

Sorry but the story sounds so sugarcoated, no surprise there since it’s published by British media on a British man in a foreign country.

I’ll just say if somebody touched me without consent (drunk or not) he deserves everything he gets.

Absolutely. There must be more to the story. I was in Abu Dhabi this summer visiting cousins that live there and people hug and stuff all the time.

It is too extra indeed. But then again it’s the gulf region where they have zero tolerance for sex and drugs cases, where the minimum sentence for drugs (weed included) possession is 4 years. Plus this isn’t only a sexual harassment case, it’s connected to homosexuality where it’s forbidden there. Personally I won’t judge either sides until I know more about the story.

Don't play devil's advocate for Dubai. They arrest tourists all the time for things like this. The accuser and the police are not going to have a reasonable explanation for this arrest. If anything untoward had actually happened, we would know about it by now - he's been there for three months.
