Those first week numbers are shockin. Younger Now is one of my favorite songs this year and it only peaked at #79 in the US. Perhaps the GP is done with her. Crazy to realize that Gwen Stefani's debut week is two times bigger than Miley's. I love Gwen to death but her peak was a decade ago and here's a more current artist only selling half as much. Fan base plays a huge role in things though. If you’ve got a dedicated and committed fan base, they’ll buy the album. But sales don’t always equate to popularity so who knows? That's very true. It's kinda hard to compare the two because of the kinds of music they make and how they rose to fame. One thing for sure, though, is that Miley is way less on the minds of people as she was around four years ago, whereas Lana has never been quite mainstream. But I think she realized that she can sell stadiums and that means that the tour can be cut down to like 40 or 50 dates which isn't too much of a strain on her body. The sales aren’t shocking, it’s very different to her most recent work and is a short, light, and airy album. She’s been doing s lot of work with her last two album. If anything, Younger Now exemplifies that she’s happy and kind of wants simplicity? Touring is demanding and takes a toll on happiness and relationships. The magic of seeing Miley normal again in Malibu wore off by the time Younger Now came around. It was too far apart and nothing on the album is better than Malibu anyway.
