I might get roasted for this, but technically it was never proven without a doubt that Dr. Luke was guilty. I stand with Kesha, but I'm not going to convict the man, and everyone he works with, without hard evidence.

Literally the same thing I was going to write, so proud to share the view of my president.

I am going to be roasted for this probably, too, but here we come.

We all seem to be quite forgetful about the fact that no court has ever ruled against Dr. Luke. None of the bad things said about him or anything he has been accused of were proven in court. That's firstly.

Secondly, we also ingore the fact we can't check any information that is being spread about him. Like there's no way. No hard evidence. We have to listen to sides of the conflict and try to morally verify the information, yes, but there are no tapes, no texts, nothing to ever prove him guilty.

Which brings us to the final point - it is the question of blind faith. Basically the part of internet is angry with Ellie Goulding pairing with a legally innocent man (and he is innocent since no court has proven him guilty) because they believe he is an abuser (but they can't present any evidence that would prove it).

I am not trying to justify him or support him, and this is not victimblaming or something,  but I am just reminding everyone that the whole case is extremely complicated and there is still a chance that he is innocent.

Couldn't have said it better myself. We have to have faith that victims are telling the truth, but we have to make sure that we also uphold our values of innocent until proven guilty. Now that obviously doesn't sway public opinion, but when there's so little evidence, who are we to convict this person?

NOOOO!!! Halcyon is one of my favorite albums of all time.

I thought she spoke out against Luke once for some reason. Who told her this would be a good business decision?? :saladga:

Indeed, and it's rather hard, because the situation bares the conflict between the rule of law and the rule of ethics. One is a rational thing based on evidence, the other is an irrational thing based on feelings. And we, humans, do favour both, mind and and heart, with equal passion, and to choose between them is...

I'm still wary of him and I won't lie, I'm so glad Gaga has never worked with him. Because I always have this Dostoyevski novel in my mind, "Crime and Punishment". The criminal there killed two people and left almost no evidence and could not be tried in court. The detective feels that the criminal is guilty and tries to inflict some moral pressure on him so that he cracks and confesses his crime - which he ultimately does. But the question Dostoevsky like silently asks in the end of the novel: what if we relied only on the evidence? There were no hard evidence of the crime, and had the detective been less enthusiastic and less keen to follow his own ethic principles, the murderer of two people could have been set free.

I can't help but draw comparisons with the Dr. Luke case. Like yes, he hasn't left any evidence, but that doesn't 100% mean that he is not guilty. Chances are that he is guilty, and chances are that he is not. It's like an awful social schrodinger cat.

Exactly. And I honestly wouldn't put it past him, but thinking of the flip side of that heart as well, Ellie is probably pretty close to him, or has been while working with him. I'm sure she has her own angle that we'll never get to know.

Gonna play devil’s advocate here, shouldn’t we be just as mad at Gaga for working with R. Kelly and Terry? :gum: They’re both accused of some pretty terrible things, same as Luke.

I’m not going to slam Ellie yet, she may be contracted to do this or not have known this brand belongs to Dr Luke.

How do we  know she was even aware that CORE was Dr Luke's?? Sheesh.

For all we know she might just be getting another brand deal like those shampoo commercials :selena:

I get it. Do the research next time Ellie, but still.

I ****ing hate this "roast culture" going on. It's normalized bullying.

Since you're all so smart, how can you prove sexual abuse and all these other things he's been accused of? :awkney:

Her management job is to do that kinda thing and report to her. So I am pretty sure ahe is aware who she is working with. Otherwise she need to fire her current team for this neglect which caused harm to her brand and image. Pretty sure her PR team is having all nighter for this now. Party.

Yes and I am definitely not happy about that either.
