This is precisely why everyone found Joanne so underwhelming. It wasn’t the music, because the music is great, it was the lack of “event”-ness, the era didn’t even take off properly in terms of excitement until SB but even then the era was basically over except for the tour

I have to disagree on this. Joanne had many of the best promo spots with Carpool Karaoke, SNL, AMAs, VSFS, X-Factor UK, etc..... I know that she could have done more (late night-) shows but I doubt many of these would have been so impactful as the one she attended and I bet her team chose (effectful) Quality over Quantity since Gaga has been struggeling more recently with her disease. But imho it paid of since everything was so promo-sensitive. Unfortunately promo in form of performances is just helpful to a certain extend and certain time.

What is needed are successful singles to keep album sales stable. However a well thought schedule regarding singles was lacking imho....

I think the era was fine from the first dive bar to superbowl. But there was no pre hype for the album and she did nothing for PI. JD/BR/BTW/Applause were all big hits with alot of promo while PI only had radio interviews. Then the era kind of died promo wise after superbowl. 

I hope next era she doesn't try to promo an album/finish it, plan the superbowl, headline coachella, do music videos, shoot a movie, do a whole soundtrack, feature in a series, plan a tour and do a documentary at the same time along with being in major pain almost daily 

If only they had finished the album, shoot a few videos (PI/MR/A-YO) and planed few promo events for single and album release before actually reasling PI it would been all good. She pretty much get everything she could this era in terms of big promo (VS/Carpool/Coachella,SNL,Superbowl, Netflix documentary,Grammy peformance, AMAs, X- Factor UK, Dive bar) But we didn't really have an era with constant attention to the singles and promo like we used to. The era had amazing peaks but between those it was just silent. I think gaga had to much work bts to do this era to really be in promo mode like she used to.

The fact that gaga has as many haters as fans rating the movie is tragic. Where is all those twitter fans that spam MTV polls all day when you need them

Let's pray that ASIB garners at least mixed reviews. What I hope is that the soundtrack and the movie could be at least a moderate commercial success which is more likely than a critical acclaimed movie imho.
