so I PMed the member who went to the ASIB screening and this is what he has to say about the movie-

"I was a fan of this for the most part. it's got some pacing problems towards the middle. And some of the writing wasn't that strong but it's all about the performances. And it's got great ones. Specifically Cooper who just shines start to finish. Gaga is also quite magnetic, a bit rusty when it comes to the dramatics but she has such a natural biting wit. And her eyes are incredibly expressive. 

I also found this to be sam Elliot's best performance in quite some time. If this wasn't coming out during the summer I would say it def has a shot at nominations, specifically for Cooper and Elliot. All in all very pleased with this one. It's nothing groundbreaking, not a masterpiece but it is a powerful intimate piece non the less." 

Another member posted this in the ASIB thread-

"I saw it and can not post stuff, but I'm sure it's okay for me to say, this will NOT even be getting nominated for Razzies, so that conversation can be ended. Also, without a doubt in my mind, we will be seeing GaGa, and maybe even Cooper, performing at the Oscars. I will say that it will 100% be rated R, so if that guides conversation about box office potential and possible audience appeal, then I can offer that up.  There is nakedness, in addition to R rated language."

A win is a reach but also if it would happen she also wouldn't be safe from the monsters who hate Joanne, especially the ATRL monsters would drag her.

I want MR to win SOTY just to piss of monsters who were hating on it back in jan. I got called delulu that it would be peformed at the superbowl and the superbowl would be a disaster with MR in it. It feel like no one belived in the single except us chartsters 

Meanwhile they were screaming for JW as a single and we saw how well that would gone, did it even enter top 200 after the video + discount?

Tbh this sounds legit to me. I knew that Gaga's acting skills are not outshining the ones from her fellow actors. However the good thing is that this is a musical film and she can compensate her okay-ish acting with her vocal and stage performance talent so I think her performance won't be critically panned. I am fine with mixed reviews for the movie......
