I'm a Canadian but I think they're making a political statement by not standing during the national anthem (which is a huge no-no unless you got medical conditions that prevent you from standing). I believe it's have to do with the fact that America is not the land of freedom for everyone, and only caters to the while and privileged. But I might not be entirely correct

Because the NA talks about freedom for all and kneeling is a sign of protesting that statement. Originally the Colin protested due to police brutality and what was going on. Don't you remember Tommie Smith and John Carlos???

Also, this also brings up the ridiculousness of Americans who can call out Kaepernick but not the KKK.

I mean, white people wanted black people to protest peacefully... this is the answer.

Lastly, a lot of high profile players are beginning to show their support. Expect BIG news to come tonight when more games start.
