Fine to say if you release an album every year, but not a passable answer for fans who've been waiting nearly 3 years for this new album. For a rapper, she's taking a surprisingly long gap. She's been doing so many features lately, not all of them even hitting, that I feel her clout as the go-to female rapper to feature is wearing thin. She's going to be 35 in December. It's so hard for a rap female to sell at that age. In fact, most of them disappear when they hit 30. I believe Missy Elliott and Trina are the only female rappers in history to be working on a sixth studio album. A lot of them are lucky to make it past 2 albums. And they're usually younger than Nicki at that. Those "old ass bitches" that she insulted back when she debuted were the age she is now. I doubt she'll ever have an Anaconda-sized hit again unless she features huge names on her comeback single. We saw her 3 new tracks she submitted earlier this year fail to be hits, even with Drake and Wayne helping her out. Not to mention, the Remy Ma diss is still stinging. She's going to have a bumpy ride when she comes back. I wouldn't be surprised if the reason she was taking so long is because she's so scared of how she'll be received as an older rap female who hasn't had a hit since 2014 and who was recently humiliated by another female's diss track that made very damning accusations.

Agree with all of this. Added to that, Cardi B has the attention of Nickis demographic now. Everyone is replaceable and I think Nicki is experiencing her worst nightmare. Iggy came in but didn't have the respect of the rap community, but Cardi does. Not to put the two against each other, it's just how it works. Cardi is younger, in my opinion prettier, more likeable, more real. Some of these qualities are what people view Nicki to lack. Some believe she's has a bad attitude, is fake and very calculated.
