Why Is This A Gay Anthem

I've read comments on how this is a huge gay anthem (apparently) and I really don't understand. The song is about dancing and disco, not love or accepting yourself or whatever. Maybe someone can enlighten me because I don't get it:confused:

the disco scene was a prominent place for the LGBT community back in the 70s, and Kylie is a gay icon, that's pretty much it. Gay anthems haven't always been strictly about acceptance or love, sometimes they're about a need to party and let loose. :lolly:

Because gay clubs (discos) and dance music have always been a sanctuary for the LGBT+, the war against discrimination is on pause whilst you're in the club / sanctuary. The lyrics also speak about travelling to meet someone who is also lonely, a feeling many gay people have felt having to look for love far and wide due to the dating pool being smaller and to find a place free from discrimination.

Add the lyrical content to a very "gay" instrumental and you have yourself a gay anthem :sara:

The disco was the gay church back then. The only place you could go to be yourself without judgement of the normal world. That's why.

I don't know who that is but sometimes a gay anthem doesn't have to have an acceptance theme. I don't get that

But take dancing queen for example
