A bold opinion about Joanne

is a strong Album of the Year contender.

I'm not saying it will win, but at this point I cannot imagine 2018's Album of the Year nominations being announced without Joanne on the list.

I think these albums are not getting a nomination:

1. Witness - Katy Perry (received mixed reviews, ever since Bon Appetit and Swish Swish, Katy has been receiving a lot negative backlash, her attempts at building a comedic image by hosting at the VMAs doesn't help either, tour isn't selling out, Witness is a strong decline from Prism and Teenage Dream)

2. Melodrama - Lorde (acclaimed but it's literally not promoted ever since Green Light ended, I'm being honest the impact is really limited with this album)

3. Rainbow - Kesha (I haven't heard it in full but like Melodrama, although it's acclaimed I can't imagine it getting a nomination, the album barely has impact, the singles are only existent among pop fans, also Kesha is never praised for her vocals, the album is acclaimed because of its production, her vocals are still somehow flawed imo)

I think these albums are competing alongside Joanne:

With Joanne, we have 4 nominations as of yet. There's room for one more, and they say the Grammys usually recognise one more album that is not as commercially successful as the mainstream ones, so we leave room for that. Sometimes the Grammys nominate SIX albums.

The other contender is Bruno Mars's 24k Magic. Both Joanne and 24k Magic received positive reviews from critics but 24k Magic is short af it's almost like an EP.

Other reasons I think Joanne is getting a nomination:

1. I personally think Joanne has more impact than 24k Magic, I could be biased because obviously I receive Joanne news more frequently than I do 24k Magic. I'd like to hear your opinion on this. Gaga has been receiving a lot of praise from promoting this album, whether it's Coachella or the Joanne World Tour or the Superbowl or the documentary.

2. Lady Gaga is the only A-list female musician this year that is working. If the Grammys would want to recognise one female talent next year, the choice is no doubt Lady Gaga.

3. She performed at the biggest event this year, and gave a universally acclaimed halftime performance that became the most watched musical event in history that is also a 6-time Emmy-nominated program.

4. Five Foot Two is being released and is thus far acclaimed by critics and that documentary focuses on: guess what? JOANNE.

I love Joanne so much. I don't understand why people don't like it. The only thing that I didn't like about the era was the fact that Diamond Heart wasn't the lead single.

I think it is a great AOTY contender as well, I really hope she wins a Grammy this time.

The only thing I disagree is Melodrama not getting a nomination.

also, it's not really a bold opinion, everyone here thinks so too :ladyhaha:

I dk but I don't think Lorde made Melodrama as huge as Joanne was by Gaga :rip:

I think critics response is a bigger factor for a Grammy nomination

Not a Grammy win tho

I really hope she gets it. I was thinking the exact same thing recently as well. Gaga deserves to overcome these critics. She's treated so unfairly in the industry and I think Joanne ****ing delivered. I really hope Gaga can get at least the nomination :/ She deserves it

You need to tell me which albums are going to take that place instead for me to be convinced.
