Ernie Swift 160 Posted September 16, 2017 Share Posted September 16, 2017 One common misconception about us Swifties that still happens today is that people assume that just because she did country music in the beginning, we are all white Americans and very conservative people who voted for Trump. I have seen a lot of this said in both the media and on Twitter especially in the past year, and it would infuriate me because it's not true at all. And a lot of us American Swifties cried the night of the election when it became clear that Hillary wasn't going to win. With me being a fan since 2008, I have seen that we are a very diverse and liberal fan base, with people of all colors and nationalities, and the LGBTQ+ community is actually very prominent in our fan base too.
