It's a perfect arguement for the motion that USA don't have democracy in the strict Greek meaning of the word. It's not the power of the masses. It's not just about the majority of simple votes. US version of democracy is based on three things: free political competition, free and independent media, rule of law. It's one of the best models of society in the world, but the election system is not very democratic now. I knew it was designed in the days when people were afraid of the ignorance of the masses, but today it has brought us to a situation when Republican votes hardly matter in New York, and Democratic votes are not very meaningful in North Dakota. The vote of a person from a swing state has become more important than the vote of a person from a state with a long preference history and red/blue loyalty.
