No it wasn't, lol. It was built on legal immigration and in the 1700s-1800s slavery, sadly. Then work on border laws more lenient and cheap if you think it contributes to the economy (which it doesn't).

The process to enter this country "legally could most of the time take decades. Time these people don't have, plus wasn't this country based on the principle of the "American Dream" where everyone who came searching for their pursuit of happiness could? ICE deports them back to their country. If their country is as bad a concentration camp, then they need to focus internally on fixing those issues. That's just the way the world works and it's tough, but the world is not an idealistic utopia. Once you are an American citizen or here legally, you can utilize the American Dream. But, the American Dream hasn't been alive for some decades now. 2 minutes ago, ProdigyARTPOP said: I just want to know how you can consider yourself a Gaga fan and have these principles Because I see the overall picture logically, not the short term emotionally. 2 minutes ago, PunkTheFunk said: So the Europeans who massacred entire civilizations of Native Americans and stole their land had permits then Just because the past was vile and corrupt doesn't mean we shouldn't have laws to maintain our country. These people can apply to be here legally. If they don't make the cut, that's just the way the world works. They can then work on improving their own country while we work on improving ours. No, they can't. Undocumented immigrants cannot apply for a green card within the U.S. border, but if they return to their country and apply at a U.S. Embassy, as required by the law, they are ineligible to return. I don't think immigrants running away from their own countries pitfalls is a very effective way of fixing their issues. It's not easy, and it shouldn't be easy. If all you can say is I lack compassion, I don't care. So... you would want the people of Venezuela to stay in Venezuela? Even with what they have been experiencing for the past year? To where they are living without food? And this is probably more 50% of the population? I know not everyone is from Venezuela, but honestly, as long as they're not harming people, I do not see the problem. Plus any problems that result from undocumented immigrants is because of multiple things wrong in both governments/countries.

Then work on border laws more lenient and cheap if you think it contributes to the economy (which it doesn't). The problem isn't border control. It's people who have overstayed their visas and have been granted extensions under both Republican and Democratic Presidents for decades now. These undocumented immigrants have full time jobs, own businesses, own houses, buy cars, are parents of US citizens and are productive members of their community. They contribute greatly to our economy. Altogether, according to the state and local tax data analysis—published by the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy (ITEP)—undocumented immigrants contribute about $11.6 billion to the economy annually, including nearly $7 billion in sales and excise taxes and $3.6 billion in property taxes. They are, in economic terms, productive citizens, and pay a higher effective tax rate than the top 1 percent income bracket.
