Then they shouldn't have come here illegally in the first place. Apply legally in your home country

That's why the statement "they can just apply to be legal" is incorrect. They know that, but for many of these people it was a way to save their children's lives. Meanwhile, they have been allowed to stay for decades and to make a life here. The majority are law abiding members of their communities who contribute positively to our economy.

I hope you realize for some people crossing illegally was a matter of life or death. 

For many it was about actually being able to live decently.

What is this motel's issue if someone overstayed on their tourist visa or if they were brought to country as kids? 

It's none of their business. It's pure racism. They're reporting people with Latin American (or Middle Eastern) sounding names, right?

Are they gonna report Jack and Becky? What if Becky came from Germany or Ireland as a tourist and decided to stay illegally? You think she has to worry about this motel, probably not.

“I’m thinking to myself, how would they know that?” Rocha said. “The client said he gave them a Mexican ID card — but there’s people who visit the U.S. all the time who have Mexican IDs. How does that establish that you’re here without authorization?”

He added, “I’m assuming it was a Motel 6 person — I don’t know who else would have told them — thinking, ‘Hey, this guy doesn’t speak English, he has a Mexican ID card, I’m going to call ICE.’”

They should report them too. I just watched the movie '15 Minutes' and the main characters were chasing these murderers all over thanks to some European immigrant overstaying her visa. Indeed they might have left earlier and not gone on such a rampage.

Anyways the only issue I have is privacy...

I don't agree with reporting guests... but the very first tweet linked says they give ICE a list of ALL guests who check in... not just latin american or middle eastern sounding names.

Americans are gonna pretend like they don't rely on an undocumented workforce or benefit from taxes paid by undocumented immigrants all while denying that Europeans colonized the Americas by force.
