NathanC 938
Apples and oranges. Not the same thing. Apples and apples... care to explain how they are NOT the same thing?
HybridWarhol 7
Apples and oranges. Not the same thing. Kinda is the same thing. He's mentioning the influence and interpretations that Gaga's music has on younger/teen monsters like myself.
Sleigh Mama 0
I'll ask the younger fans this... did anyone wanted to be a Government hooker / hooker after hearing that song? That comparison is so frivolous and over simplified. This song isn't "Promoting" suicide. It's just adding to the normalization of it in our society. It's been done over and over again, I just don't see why gaga has to add to it. It's really not even a thought provoking or original concept.

HybridWarhol 7
I guess Gaga can't even write about her feelings without people twisting things and blowing things out of proportion. Look at the world we live in, smh.
Sleigh Mama 0
For some reason people are mistaking criticism of "glamorization of suicide" with thinking "this song is gonna make kids want to kill themselves"... nobody is claiming that. No, I didn't wanted to become a prostitute after hearing Government Hooker, nor did I want to set some damn rain on fire after hearing Set Fire to the Rain, shoot a b---h after hearing Man Down, or **** a mermaid after seeing the You and I video. You sir, are a special snowflake*

HybridWarhol 7
You must be new... please don't attack members on a personal level... You must be new Dont attack other members Thank you guys, he didn't really have to insult me, I was just saying people take music way too literally and really need to dig deeper into the meaning to fully understand it. Same thing that happened with Judas, tbh.
Nemo 4,273
The song is clearly written two ways, obviously Princess Diana, but then the whole suicide section is, I'm assuming, Gaga's personal experiences. Marilyn Monroe is in there. None of it, I think, is about Gaga, but also all of it is.
FairyDreams 4
A song about suicide being down over and over again, and its lyrics about ODing in a swimming pool are not thought provoking? Think of it as she's telling a story. We all know Gaga stands for bravery and empowerment, not the latter she sings of. This is an issue with people, and it happens, and when it does it's devastating. How many times do you think Gaga has cried for these types of reasons? It's not something we can take a blind eye too. She is no way saying DO THIS, but rather making a song about people who have done this.
gagaluna 0
I see you're bringing your opinion to multiple threads Go you yeah - so? it's more like - there are multiple threads on this topic. gee, ya think Gaga was trying to create a little controversy?? mwjuell91 219
The just is neither glamorizing suicide or promoting it! It is a reminder to the public and the media that if your tear the superstar down it might have fatal consequences. That is the point she is trying to get across, and she stretched the limit once again of how she could express herself and her message
