Nemo 4,296
Did you just shade Lady Diana? And express dislike for Prince William and Princess Kate? Out. Now. I have nothing personal against them as individuals, I just have a problem with the institution of which they're part. I should've drawn that distinction more clearly. But I was reacting to gagaluna's, IMHO, over-the-top comments -- "THE Princess Di", etc. As though Diana > Gaga. No. Gaga >>>>>> Diana. What's so great about Diana? What was she famous for? Being born into privilege... and marrying into more.
rivingtonrebels 245
Don't know about u guys but Princess Die has been stuck in my head all day....I'm warming to it a lot...

What's so great about Diana? What was she famous for? Being born into privilege... and marrying into more. Well, Diana and GaGa are 2 contrasting women but are both looked at by the media in similar ways. Diana's fame came with her lifestyle (if Diana had it her way, fame wouldn't have been an option - but alas, she truly loved Charles and had no choice; she married Fame in many ways.) GaGa on the other hand, is famous because of her profession and musical talent, and kind of achieved it on her own. I would not compare the 2 at all. I think Diana's left behind this legacy - for one, I view her as a woman who had a good heart. Unfortunately, she could not live her life the way she pleased because of her marriage and the amount of scrutiny she was subjected to. Her life was hectic. She is undoubtedly the most loved Royal figure to date I guess. And the most famous because of how she died. Plus, her internal struggle, the affairs, the relations etc. And all the rumors surrounding her death. It's not that she had anything great about her (for example, a talent which saw her achieve fame) but I think the way her life panned out and the fact that there's so much mystery about the death of such a loved and innocent figure makes her the topic of continued discussion. That's why GaGa's fascinated by her and her story. It is an extraordinary story tbh.

Rollercoaster 2
"Shoot me from the left" <3 This song just got better on the 2nd performance. I can't wait to see it evolve more. I particularly like where the "princess Dieee" bit fades out before the "Final act" part near the end. "Applaud, pour vous" is basically "Well done for getting your photos, but now I want to die" haha

That's why GaGa's fascinated by her and her story. It is an extraordinary story tbh. To clarify - Diana was forced into a marriage - as was the way at the time - arranged by the families because she had the right breeding to produce a future king that would be suitable. It was duty, not love. She is on record as saying as much, and it's common knowledge. Diana's held with such high regard because she was the first person of her status to just push all the crap aside - she went on a visit to an AIDS stricken region of Africa and at the time, people were of the belief that you could catch it by touch - the general public, uninformed etc - but she bent down and picked up a poor sick kid that had AIDS - it covered all newspapers and every bit of TV news for a long time after. She went to war stricken countries and helped to clear landmines. She risked her own life walking in areas where there were known landmines. to prove a point. Camilla Parker-Bowles was always there in the background because it's widely believed that she was always having an affair with Charles, but she did not have the correct family/breeding or whatever to produce a future king and they were not allowed to marry. Diana was subsequently divorced after she went public about a relationship with another man. The royal family are notoriously against divorce and she was starting to talk to papers. The british media was highly in favour of Princess Diana, and not at all for the royal family at the time. They loathed them. The royal family didn't like this - and the rumour has it that Diana was killed and the murder was arranged by the Queen's orders to the secret service. Diana & her new fiance died in that car crash at the height of Diana's media love. It'd be comparable to if Gaga were twice as popular as she is, and seen almost as a saint, then suddenly died on stage with Laurieanne Gibson mysteriously attending the show. She literally became famous just for her marriage, then rose to the title and was the nation's ultimate sweetheart, seemingly disregarding her own safety for what's right. Then she died very suddenly... why did she die? Her marriage? Because she was charitable? No, because she was famous and the paps wanted a photo.
