It'll get a nomination, but won't win. Her name won't appear on the ballot. Just "I Don't Wanna Live Forever - Fifty Shades of Grey". And well, Fifty Shades was hated.

That's one of the reasons why Sam Smith (James Bond) won and Gaga (a documentary) didn't. I'm still sad about this. :sharon:

I like the song, by the way.

Sam Smith won because his was a great song, and while the other songs were great too, the Academy had to pick one winner eventually.

how the words would be different if Gaga got that oscar last year :ladyhaha:

Yup. Oscar would look like a legit award for quality, not quantity.

Kinda like the guys who went OMG BEYONCE DIDN'T WIN THAT'S RACISM AND PRIVILEGE GRAMMYS ARE POINTLESS LET'S BOYCOTT

Those were totally unfounded rumors, especially because Taylor will not get it in the near future because if Diet Coke. Plus those JT and Jay Z rumors are gaining traction

This is a trade article from the Hollywood Reporter :rip:

who will love me when the night is over

while i completely agree with you, if gaga wasn't nominated alongside Sam Smith, i'm sure he'd be praised for that oscar now.

I know but Skyfall isn't good and like a lot of Adele music, won way more awards than it should have.

I'm a huge Hunger Games fan, and Safe and Sound is the one Taylor song I voluntarily listen to, but Skyfall>Safe and Sound no question, and even if you think Skyfall is overrated, there are several other songs from that year that also easily beat Safe and Sound (Suddenly from Les Miz or if we're talking about songs that could've gotten a nom, that Jovi song from Stand Up Guys)

I'm not a Taylor Swift fan, by all means, but the reaction you are ALL having is the same others had while Gaga was in her peak.

Whenever a pop star gets too big, it gets a lot of hate from everywhere. Specially when that pop star isn't our fave.

Y'all stress about Gaga getting hate and criticism because "people want to bring down those who are on top", and yet here you are.

She will very likely get a nomination, but I don't see the win. The film was not Oscar-worthy and neither is she or the other composers (aka not Academy-sweethearts).

Yes, he would be praised for that Oscar because he would rightfully earn it then.

No. That's not how it works. The Academy is a machine with intricate politics (just look at Leonardo DiCaprio finally winning after years and years of being snubbed).

Best Original Song nominations are made by Academy members who are songwriters and composers (and they loved Gaga/hated See You Again), and the winners are chosen by the Academy membership as a whole. The rest of the Academy (6000 members) don't care about hearing songs when it's time to vote because other categories are more important/relevant so they just choose a big or acclaimed name (in that case, a James Bond song). Best Original Song is one of the weirdest categories. Everybody knows that.

TIHTY/Manta Ray/Simple Song 3 all better choices

I've hated that so called "song" from the moment it came out. I was screaming SOMEONE CALL SHIRLEY BASSEY while hearing it for the first time. 80 years old, but sounds like a legend. Hell I'd even take that God awful Madonna song over Sam. That song was just a disgrace to the Bond brand.
