Idk if this was posted here at some point, but I found it interesting and most of the things mentioned are true and accurate.

Spoiler

The only irrelevant(partly) thing about the article is the one about Katy, considering the flop she became this era. However I think it might be seen as Katy being relevant longer than Gaga(which is true, Katy is more relevant than her since 2011/12).

Katy?More relevant?:ladyhaha:

Gaga is still as famous as ever, maybe not 2010-TFM famous,but she is still topping everyone.Joanne was one of the best selling albums last year,The Cure(with no promo whatsoever)still went to the hot 100,and has 100 Million streams, all sold-out tour, and way more.

So,don't make those statements please😊

Yet another article undermining Madonna as a songwriter, producer, and artist. "Merely an entertainer" my ass- please see Like A Prayer, Erotica, Ray of Light, etc Madonna is both artist AND entertainer. Cyndi Lauper is amazing too, definitely a very different career path than Madonna, and I agree that Gaga's career is closer related to Cyndi than to M. Disagree about Katy Perry and think she's basically done which is too bad. I don't think there is "another Madonna." Let artists be themselves.

As much as I STAN THE **** OUT OF GAGA, it pains my heart when someone calls Madonna just a recording artist who sold millions of records. People, inc Gaga, sometimes view Madonna as 'the queen of pop' but undermines her massive talent as a songwriter and producer, People either forget or don't know that she's written and produced at least 98 percent of the songs in her discography

This. :applause:

Why do artists always have to be compared to one another? Enjoy their music and their creativity without all the comparison scheiße!

Art in any medium is beautiful and meant to be enjoyed not quantified.

I totally agree. I could have written this. I'm not sure Katy will have a great career like Madonna though.

As of nowadays Katy is as irrelevant as Xtina, but Gaga is not relevant either. I meant that Katy remained popular a good 3-4 years after Gaga was deamed a "flop" and "over" and it's true. It's dellusional to say "Gaga is still as famous as ever", considering the only thing that saved this era was the amzing Super Bowl performance, without it Joanne would have been a bigger flop than ARTPOP(not that it isn't). A perfect example is how Katy's Rice aoutpeaked and outsold Gaga's lead single Perfect Illusion and MR was never going to be even a top 50 hit.

You have to explain to me your concept of " relevancy". Relevancy is not only havjng #1 hits or songs on the charts, but having a place on the music culture and an influential voice. Stevie Wonder, Tony Bennett, Elton John, they became legends by transcending their songs. They're larger than life, just as Gaga, who left her mark already on culture, by her stage presence and artistry. Performances at the Oscars 2015/2016 or the win at Golden Globes just prove that. She is here to be LADY GAGA and create her legacy and destiny.

Joanne wasn't a flop,and neither was ARTPOP.

Joanne went #1(with Katy being nowhere to be seen on the charts)and sold around 750.000 as said in March 2017,so it probably gained some sales these months.

Perfect Illusion didn't go to the top 100 immediately, but it got played on the radio the whole day,and was probably the biggest hype of the year, along with Beyoncé's Lemonade.

Million Reasons went to #4 on the hot 100,which is impressive for a ballad, especially one that debuten at around #30

ARTPOP wasn't commercialy a flop, just the media was attacking her by saying it often.ARTPOP went #1 and has sold around 2.1 million in the US and around 3.2 Million worldwide. That is a big thing for relevancy, considering there would be a lot of competition between ARTPOP and Prism, and Prism never got into the top 5 i think,or at least not in the top 3.

Rise,a totally non-album and unexpected single, flopped,by not even debuting at the top 50.

And the Super Bowl was the most watched Super Bowl and music evenement of all time, with 117.5 Million viewers,so of course that gained Gaga some more fame, and after that, she did 2 weekends of Coachella, put out a new single(The Cure)that got 100 Million streams and  now is doing a sold out tour.

And like I said,Gaga is not famous as in 2010,but still as famous as ever, meanwhile Katy is nowhere to be seen succeeding right now.

I don't wanna drag Gaga, or something, cause I love her, but saying she is as relevant as always is simply dellusional, when she is not even on her 2013 level of relevancy. PI flopped and Joanne, MR and The Cure were saved only by the SB. It's good that she has gain some popuarity back after the SB performance and her tour is sold out, but Gaga's mainstream popularity is over since 2013/4. None of my classmates ever tawks about Gaga and her songs are never played at parties(unfortunately for me, since she is one of my fave artists), once we were even talking about music and I mentioned Gaga and one of my friends was like: "I havn't heared of her since Alejandro, is she alive?"(I educated him, ;) ). I'm not trying to drag Gaga, I'm just realistic, and the truth is that if it wasn't for the SB, MR and Joanne would have flopped realy bad, probably the tour as well.
