Their time is coming I guess. I hope that when the time comes, the best decision is made.

This was just reported by my local news. The blast was so strong it was picked up by a seismograph all the way in Alabama. That s*** is scary.

Oh dear, hope NK know what they are doing. I worried for their civilians as much as I worry ours is all.

So....are we gonna die? Because my anxiety levels have now shot up. :toofunny:

Well we all are going to die. That's inevitable...but hopefully not from a nuclear bomb/war!

This is actually China's fault.  The shitshow that is North Korea would have been dealt with by the West years ago if China didn't consider them their "ally" (which they only do as a **** you to the US).  Any deaths from a North Korean nuclear attack are firmly on China's head.

I seriously don't know what to think of this :(

One part of me is like, yeah it seems that our kids and grandkids will live in a nuclear fallout world where government will take over everything.Suddenly,Sci-Fi  Apocalypse video games seem not so distant....

But another part of me says that no one literally no one wants a nuclear war but all it takes is for Trump or Kim to hit the big red button and there goes any chance to preserve the planet.

Well unless a majority of Congress and the DoD go that far to kiss his ass, Trump can't initiate the war. After 9/11, Congress passed a bill to allow the prez to initiate a war himself (and we got Iraq and Afghanistan :saladga:), but a few months ago, Congress decided to repeal the decision and he has to get approval again  (though the prez has always had to get approval from the DoD for nukes)

There has been two cases of the countries abandoning the programms of nuclear weapons of mass destruction, South Africa in 1991 if I get the date right, and Iran lately, in 2015 or 2016. Both times required long rounds of negotiations by a group of diplomats from major world powers.

The problem with North Korea is that it is widely regarded as a US vs North Korea or Japan&South Korea and US vs North Korea problem. It is not. I understand that many people think that every state, no matter how screwed up, has the right to defend itself militarily, but we have a world treaty that prohibits any extension to the list of countries owning a nuclear weapon, and this is a cornerstone of the world security system.

The trick here is that China and Russia governments do not want to get involved in the deal unless they also get some benefits from USA and Japan for helping to persuade the North Korea leader to chill out.

Russian diplomats will probably push for sanctions lift-off, while the Chinese officials will ask for recognition of their territorial demands in the Southern Seas.

And the question the is: do the USA want to settle the North Korea nuclear deal more than they want to keep Russia under sanctions and question China's claims for Soutern islands ?

The Game of Nukes indeed.

I could be wrong but I think the President is allowed to attack another country without congressional approval. Didn't he do that with Syria a few months ago?
