Taylor's Reputation: Bad Music Vs Good Visuals

So far, Taylor Swift's Reputation era has consisted of bad/childish music vs good/mature visuals. I say this because, when I first saw the album cover for Reputation, Taylor gave me this new dark and mature vibe. It gave me a sense that her music was going to be edgier and just in general more deep. Then she released her song LWYMMD and she gave me the opposite. The song has simple and generic hip hop/pop beats and the lyrics sound very childish because of their surface-level/crafted anger. But then she released the music video for the song, and the scenes once again gave me dark, mature, and polished visuals. Now, I just heard her new song Ready For It, and she once again has that generic hip hop/pop sound and innocent lyrics.

In the past, her visuals and her music always seemed to match when it comes to quality and themes. This time around, her visuals are getting a boost, but her music is taking a back seat.

I agree. LWYMMD sounds childish and the lyrics are borderline cringe-worthy.

Ready For It sounds like a reject from Speak Now.

Her visuals are on point but her music is getting progressively worse (we shall see when the whole album is released).

I mean we are taking about a girl who wrote amazing songs with amazing lyrics like All Too Well/Begin Again/Back to December.

I miss her country sounds tbh

her best songs are from ST, Fearless and Speak Now, it was very refreshing from a music industry full of pop and rap

Speak now is still her best album

My Favs = Lady Gaga, Janet Jackson, Ricky Martin, AKB48

The visuals are also childish imo and they are not that great, it's just a bunch of random scenes merged into one complete video without a story..

It's like a blockbuster, a lot of cool CGI but the plot is meh or don't exist..

So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy

She wrote way more mature songs when she was just a teenager lol

This is so true. She had a lot of lyrically well done songs back then. LWYMMD is just basic.

And I swear if someone says "what about The Cure", The Cure wasn't as basic as LWYMMD and it wasn't on Gaga's album. It was a stand alone single.

Yes. But at least the visuals are good and follow an overall vibe.

Your absolutely right. The video slays. Praise the brilliant director Joseph Kahn.

Well written and the lyrics really are beautiful. I cried the first time I listened to it. It was that gorgeous. (Tho I'm not emotionally in the best place, so I maybe would've cried if she released a 4 minute track of nothing lol).
