Not really sure what 'vegan philosophies' are (other than being anti-cruelty) since it's not some club you join, but I'd just remind that liking zoos (as an example) doesn't mean you just give up on making kinder choices on your plate or elsewhere

I know vegan zookeepers exist but to a lot of vegans zoos come under 'exploitation'. They don't seem particularly well liked in the vegan community

Anyway I'm glad you're approaching this in a very non-judgemental way (it's a hell of a lot more effective than telling people they're horrible people for eating meat) but honestly if the animals are treated well (which unfortunately I know a lot aren't) I have no moral issue with meat, using wool etc, so ultimately I personally find going vegan pointless. I still live with my parents but once I move out I want to buy non-factory farmed meat as much as possible.

(And I don't want to go to nothing but vegans restaurants for life, no way in hell I can expect friends or family to, and then I still run into the 'nothing to eat' problem)

Not eating meat has 0 to do with animal welfare. I eat meat and I love animals. I think they should live better lives and be slaughtered more humanely, but other than that we are omnivores and there's nothing wrong with eating meat.

Yeah but he is nuts. "All humans are total herbivores because their jaw doesn't move up and down" does he have a jaw? Lions have a wider range of movement than up and down but he denied it.
