Neight Shayde 7,925
Fun fact: Both Brandon Maxwell and Matthew "Dada" Williams were finalists for the LVMH prize (contest where the winner gets funded by other designers) in 2016. There were 8 finalists in total. I didn't know about this until now. Another designer won though. (brandon maxwell won other awards). small world. JDi 1,495
call me delusional but I swear I can see Gaga in Matthew's eyes. surely he went through a ton of things in his life but something tells me his loneliness is a Gaga-shaped hole. I also think Bad Romance is about him and not about Luc... or Speedy. Luc might be her first big love and as such very central but I believe that her and Dada are each other's suicidal one and it's not that he was the creative genius that's now missing but rather that she couldn't go on living a myth they dreamed up together. JDi 1,495
he was the guy that made her tits blow up... and I'm not talking about the pyro-bra.

drinkmytears 2,332
Brandon is a stylist, not a costume designer. I know he has made some of her looks but it seems like Matthew actually made a lot of her custom looks. Nicola was the stylist at the time, but Brandon, who assisted Nicola, probably had a big hand in pulling looks and putting them together we are making comparisons when we don't know what went on behind the scenes. Comparing a stylist to a designer is apples and oranges

freebit 6,132
Matthew/Dada has really great taste, and I think his instinct and insight for what's cool and underground is what's missing from Gaga's look right now. As far as his designs, I think his label is promising, and he has interesting ideas, but at the same time I feel like I've already seen most of this edgy, minimalist aesthetic that he's currently presenting, and it doesn't stand out amongst the crowd right now, in fact in reminds me a lot of Nicola's label. Hopefully he'll prove me wrong, it's just that I'm dreadfully bored of this type of look in fashion right now - its like the fashion equivalent of minimalist R&B beats of nothingness. I think Brandon isn't presenting anything new or particularly interesting either, but I feel like he low-key understands that, and doesn't seem to be aiming for super high fashion. He seems to have that Texas socialite client in mind, as well as that actress who needs something elegant, but tasteful to wear to the InStyle brunch or whatever. I hope he starts introducing color to his collections, and I feel like he kind of has a problem with making things look flattering on women who are a little on the curvier side (for example, I saw Jennifer Hudson wearing one his designs, and it didn't do her justice, and J.Hud should be easy to make look fabulous). Great construction and fit should be part of his ~brand IMO.
