The only male artist who was constantly scrutinised by the GP/media was MJ. Maybe recently lol how about every black male musician ever getting seconds when it came to the music industry. They had to start a whole freaking genre (Motown) to get theirs and it STILL got taken from them and the king to rise out of it (MJ) was struck down and vilified. Let's not even get into how Elvis up and stole rock and roll and work from black musicians... my point is that while misogyny is certainly alive and vibrant, men have also had their share, just maybe not as many white men. I can count a total of 0 Asian famous musicians in the west, for example (except Yo Yo Ma). So I see it as more complex than men vs. women. This is an issue that is intersectional and requires a lot of care to discuss effectively.

britneyspears 497
Look What You Made Me Do is not a feminist song - not even remotely. For as long as Taylor keeps pushing her white agenda, she will never be a feminist. Stop creating a narrative where it doesn't exist.

pie-kun 1,765
This article was nauseating to read. I think even Taylor herself would be blushing at how hard this author is trying to paint Taylor as a victim of an unjust society. -Admits she lied during the Kardashian/Kanye saga, but then says we don't know what really went down and it might have all just been a publicity stunt. Then later on speculates that she only lied because she was terrified after all the "hate" she gets. -Literally tries to compare Hillary Clinton and Taylor Swift and subtly compares people criticizing Taylor to Donald Trump. Implies people are hating on Taylor for no reason other than misogyny even after the author pointed out several specific things that she did that attracted criticism. -Claims that no one paid attention to her victory in her sexual assault trial even though it was covered by literally every major news source as a top story when it happened. Says Twitter was silent about it despite evidence to the contrary -Says Taylor is "universally despised" despite her being one of the most successful pop stars, having numerous hit singles, albums and tours and being mostly popular with the GP. I'm sorry, but any sympathy I might have had for the author's argument was lost in their hyperbole.
CannaeDrive 3,412
This is bullsh!t, read this one that is more on point: https://www.usatoday.com/story/life/entertainthis/2017/08/28/taylor-swifts-look-what-you-made-me-do-video-isnt-smart-its-just-petty/607805001/ That Swift girl is only doing what she's always done, dwelling on ridiculous non-issues of a privileged white girl, the trivial dramas of schoolkids level and other laughable tricks coming from a mundane mind. Here she thrives on the shallowness and pettiness of contemporary social media culture, to get the attention of the impressionable minds of her target audience. She is still as bland as ever as a musician and mediocre singer, resorting to pettiness and childish narcissism is also no substitute for the lack of talent and artistic vision. I know, I just mean that you need to expand the scope from broadly looking at women vs men and observe how that looks given any number of demographics. For instance, a *strong* argument can be made that white women are afforded more privilege than black men or that black men are afforded more than black women. This isn't meant to say that the plight of all women shouldn't be addressed, but that it's not as simple as man vs. woman. That's working within the parameters of extremes on an issue that requires nuanced discussion.

It's breaking goddam records left and right yet someone at the Guardian is complaining about the patriarchy? What??? In what was is the Taylor backlash due to the fact she's a woman?! She over exposed herself last album and then did sh*tty things before this release. No one is denying that minorities have had to fight for relevance, recognition and rights and continue to do so. That's not what this article is about, though. It isn't saying that this particular brand of standards means that there aren't other problems when it comes to other minority groups. One issue doesn't discount all other issues!
