Madonna and Gaga

I'd say Britney too, but the fact that most of the hate she gets is because of the lip sync, I can understand the hate. What I don't understand is people hating on her for other reasons that lip sycing

The GP doesn't exactly know Azealia tbh like maybe they'd hear her name somewhere but I'm 95% sure the GP wouldn't know her to the point they actually hate her

Madge: Maybe because they see her as try hard like Gags or because it has something to do with ageism like I hear a lot of people think she should stop trying hard at her age :neyde: (Controversies definitely has to play into this as well)

Gags: Maybe because they just "hate" anything out of the norm. Plus they think she's old and a try hard (also a Madge copy-cat so there ya go) :neyde:

Yes, most of the people see Madonna as a try-hard desesperate to stay relevant, following trends and she's definitely a victim of ageism. I agree with what you say.
But about Gaga, honestly I think why most of music fans started to dislike her in the last few years is because of her potential (to release music as flawless as TF/TFM/BTW, and incredible music videos, performances, and visuals) that she's wasting because of management issues or by releasing music of unpopular genres (jazz, country)

People don't like Madonna especially teens because they see her as tryhard  (and tbh she kinda is :smh: ) and when she came out with 'Bitch I'm Madonna' it set it in stone. She was doing fine until she tried to relate to the teeny boppers with a cringey song

Despite all this talk about 'ageism' doing something like that at her age IS pretty embarrassing, just comes off as desperate

The BIM video is an embarassment to her career yes, but if she still feels herself at her age, and feels comfortable in her body I don't see what's wrong about wanting to shake her booty of things like that

Even though it does feel like she is a try hard at times, people see it as try hard and embarrassing because of norms tbh

obviously, because older people we feel should act more modest and to 'grow up' to put it since that's what society has taught us, I'm guessing? I mean, I get why people are yelling 'ageism' and all that stuff, but despite all that I guess it's known to grow out of all that when you're older, especially when you're almost 60?

It's a controversial topic for sure

Lady Gaga - Self-explanatory. But at least she isn't getting the level of hate she used to get.

Avril Lavigne - Yeah, she sold out a bit, her music isn't awesome or anything but having a niche audience is no crime.

Demi Lovato - Great voice, brilliant pop tunes these days, she should be right up there. Yet people prefer the lesser talented Selena.

Lana Del Rey - One of the best songwriters of all time, a much better voice than she's credited for if people would only research it and she's so sweet to her fans. I think her intelligence and introverted nature put people off. Typical.

Halsey - I know her attitude can leave much to be desired but her music is pretty solid. If all the deluxe tracks were on the Badlands standard edition, it would be an even better album.

Iggy Azalea - Yeah, yeah, cultural appropriation and all that. If she were a black girl, everyone would go nuts for her. I mean, if you seen the crap music they accept from black rappers? A white girl gives you solid work and you put her down. Her flow is good. She can't freestyle, but prove to me that every rapper is genuinely doing that. She's also one of the sweetest people in a game where having an attitude is the norm, so props to her for that.

It's more like she's not trying hard enough. She just can't seem to push herself to make another great album like Ray of Light, she's just lazily pandering to the youth market with songs that should have been left on the cutting room floor. And while I am critical of her antics at her age, it's not coming from a place of ageism but merely levelled at her maturity. I'm 27 and I'd feel embarrassed to sing a lot of her new songs because they're just too childish. You can have fun and be young at heart without being immature. When your fellow adults are laughing at you, you know you need to grow up. At her age, she should be above caring if young people are buying her music or finding her relevant. You should be wanting to appeal to those your own age. Artists much younger than her are above all that "pull in a new, teen fanbase" nonsense and are just doing their own thing. Gaga, Adele, Lana...Madonna's proved that she can still make music for adults but it's few and far between, especially in singles.

Probably because of how she used a sexual image and also that many people thought she was a terrible mother. (Not my opinion)

Iggy.

Why do people like to hate legends like her? She's even more talented that Taylor Swift yet she's not that praised by the GP.
