How Many Grammy Noms Will Gaga Snatch This Year?

Even it doesn't win, I can't imagine Joanne not getting nominated for something.  Even if it wasn't massive, it certainly did ok in the US, and it's not like it's been crushed by other pop albums.  This was a crap year for music, in both sales and quality.  I'm just grateful for how great Joanne turned out, unlike some of the competition.

MR seems like it could actually win something though.  I don't know why anyone would find it far-fetched for it to at least get nominated.

remarkably NEW and EPIC from Ed or The Weeknd? They just sold a lot of records, but I wouldn't say they put out something new or epic.

They were still much better albums than Joanne with many more memorable tracks and visual and an impact on the world than Joanne.

If you mean commercial success you're right, but I still not consider their albums something REMARKABLY new.

Memorable visuals and Ed Sheeran? :huh:

Million Reasons & to a certain extent, Joanne, are Grammy baits, so i'm confident it'll get at least Best Pop Solo Performance.

How about The Weeknd? his music videos along with the short film, not to mention the quality of the tracks, collaborating with Daft Punk and all. For me, those were much superior works and I'm pretty sure the world is more likely to recognize and remember Starboy, Secrets, Crawley Girl andShape of You (to name a few) than Perfect Illusion, Dancing In Circles, The Cure or even Million Reasons.

What I meant by remarkably new is that it felt like the sound today's music. Starboy was a collaboration with Daft Punk who won Grammys for their album Random Access Memories and it brought back sounds from decades ago, but modernized it in a way that it became the defining theme for the years that followed it, and somewhat a recipe for most hits sounded like. As for Joanne, which had many country and rock influences, it failed to sound as remarkable as any well-known country or rock album.

I think the only nomination she has a chance of getting would be Pop Vocal Album. That's if she's lucky :selena:

I don't know why you're talking about the world when the Grammys are just American Awards

and , again, I would not consider neither Shape of You nor I feel it coming something REMARKABLY new and epic. (just think about cheap thrills, for example)

With the Grammy eligibility season quickly wrapping up at the end of September, it seems as though Gaga will be included in the noms after a great 2017. Which noms do you think she'll get? I think she'll get 3.

Pop Solo Performance - Million Reasons

Song of the Year - Million Reasons

Pop Vocal Album - Joanne

Thoughts?

Stream Million Grammy's btw

I think she'll get 2- Best Pop Vocal Album, and Song of the year for Million Reasons. I would be really angry if they snub her again because she has performed for THREE YEARS IN A ROW. They need to give her some nominations.

I'm not sure you're getting the point here. To make it simple for you, more people will remember and appreciate The Weeknd, Ed Sheeran and Sia (which you mentioned), than remembering and appreciating songs from Joanne. I'm talking about the world because there are people beyond the US, and the Grammys -like the Oscars- while they're a US-based show, the awards they give to artists are highly regarded all around the world, and aren't only given to American singers, which is why Adele got Grammys too.

I totally got your point since the beginning, which is: you don't like Joanne. and okay, I respect that.

I was just trying to say that I didn't agree with your sentence "remarkably new and epic".

To me, something trendy is not necessarily epic or new.

And yes, they give awards to artist from all around the world, but yet they are US awards.

(and Sia hasn't got one Grammy, to date).

She'll likely get a pop album nomination since Ed and Lorde are the only ones sure of a nomination. Bruno too if he decides to enter pop. The Weeknd wont submit his album to pop. After those two or three candidates, she's really the most likely to get in. The last spot(s) can be taken by Halsey, Harry Styles, Lana Del Rey, Katy Perry, Miley, Demi, ... but none of those did or will do better than Joanne.

Well luckily the TS album isn't out till after the Grammy's cut off and Ed Sheeran is a man so he can't get all the female awards :laughga:

He'll probably get all the male solo, male album etc awards just because he's done really well, Grammy's won't care that he is probably the most overrated mediocre talent around.

The division between male and female ended in 2011. If she's nominated she will be up against Ed in all pop and general categories.

Even if she get only 1 I'll be okay with that. That means they gave Joanne more recognition than ARTPOP.

No, my point wasn't that I don't like Joanne. My point was that the impact that Joanne had on the world isn't something that big especially that there's a strong competition of artists that presented something more deserving of an award due to impact, sales and feedback.

I too do not care about what's trendy or what sells more, but since we're talking about Grammys, that's beyond just my opinion or yours. As for whether the show is American or not, I don't get the relevance of it to the topic.
