I believe we're all free to criticize Gaga's work and no one is saying anyone isn't entitled to their opinion. You don't have to love everything Gaga does, I don't. But the "she needs to take notes" comments I feel are really disrespectful to the work she's put out thus far. She doesn't need to take notes on visuals, she's done it better already.

I don't think it's even worth getting annoyed over. People use GGD in so many different ways and some are more critical of her work. That's fine. Let people just enjoy the escapism of the forum. I doubt Gaga would be losing any sleep over it and neither should anyone else

Maybe because these fans are feeling bad that so many other singers are doing better than Lady Gaga is and working much harder than she is, and they feel bad because they want their favorite singer to work hard like she used to and present something of a better quality than the latest stuff that they got. It's not always "shade" and "hate", sometimes it's good to give criticism so that the artist knows where she stands.

Of course it's up to her to listen or not, but people can still say what they want. Besides, Taylor Swift and others aren't just "some pop girls", Gaga is a pop singer as well and she's just like them. Whether she gets more or less awards, she's still a singer who is of the same generation and sometimes she did things better and sometimes they did, though lately, a lot of people have been doing better than Gaga in terms of quality. So let's stop acting like everyone is inferior and that Gaga is somehow above criticism or comparison.

That video does not exist for me, she is in her grave for me, like other things that i don't like from her... but i try to avoid the shade to those things you know...

I think what you mean to say is she's not as creative as you would like? Or in the way that you would like? (although I disagree) Simpler music videos does not mean she is not "working hard". She was just going in a certain direction for her videos this era. She can still push herself artistically which is proven by the JWT interludes.

It's true that simple doesn't mean being lazy or not working hard, but that was exactly my point. Even the simple things don't look simple or minimalistic in a neat way. They felt rushed. I mean look at this music video: 

It's very minimalistic. It's literally shot in one room with nothing but a chair and white bathroom-like walls, but the director and the artist knew well what to make of the simplicity and turn it into a work of art. On the other hand, Million Reasons song was a very good one, but the music video felt more like random clips filmed on the fly and put together without much of a context nor that much of a beautiful image. It was simple, but not something I'd feel amazed by.

Bjork for example has so many music videos that are made in just one room and without any outfit changes, but they're so perfectly made that you feel how rich they are, it's as if the whole environment is speaking to you.

If you take a look at the single artwork for Million Reasons, she's lying down in a field. Had the music video shown her there with a beautiful dress playing the piano with some nice color grading and focus on her, it would've worked much better. John Wayne, while more like the old Gaga, still felt like a repackaging of everything Gaga in one clip without much of a meaning, it's part Judas, part something else. It's as if she doesn't feel like working like before. You know what I mean?
