Though MTV is hardly the same as it was when MJ and M were at their peaks  I'm not surprised by the fall in quality of the VMA's or the apparent lack of interest that A-list megastars like Gaga have in them  It's no wonder legends aren't nominated at the VMA's anymore, they wouldn't show up to accept the awards

Agree, although there were enough men imo. They already rule the charts, let the pop girls have their moments

The first VMA s that I did not watch . And trust me with the time zone I always stay up till dawn.  But this time nothing interested me. Even tho I had nothing watching I still could not even care abt a single performance.

I wasn't particularly talking about performers. I looked into the audience and I see 15% of men and 85% of women.

And I hope this doesn't sound misogynistic but I hate it when music platforms like the VMAs only attract rich women who are into clubbing, expensive jewelry and makeup, twerking,  generic EDM, and blindly following latest internet trends. For some reason, C-list stars give me the feeling that they rely on the Internet to become popular rather than real talent (Bebe Rexha, Alessia Cara, Zara Larsson, Fifth Harmony) I dk I just don't see any real talent in these women.

I prefer women musicians like Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Rihanna, Katy Perry.

It says a lot about an award show when the best moment of the night was a music video during the commercial break

But I have faith in it, there were barely any iconic performances in between the gap of Britney and Gaga, they just need a new IT pop girl, like another Madonna/Britney/Gaga to deliver a shocking performance and the VMAs will come back for a few years then slowly fade away, then when all hope seems lost another new popgirl will debut and it'll get good again. The middle of a decade typically isn't good for popstars I've noticed

I have no opinion on this subject, since I don't care about the VMAs at all. But isn't the dominance of male music artists one of the most revolting aspects of the music industry this year, and now you and lots of people around here apparently agree with your words? shouldn't MTV promoting female music artists a good thing?

I wasn't talking about performers/artists, I was talking about the audience the VMAs attract. It used to be male + female audience, right now it's just female youngsters... does anyone here actually get what I meant?

I talked about this in a post above, maybe it will explain clearer what I meant.

I think the tables could turn rather quickly. Critics and the ever decreasing audience's disapproval keeps growing. MTV needs to start firing some people because it's depressing to see what the show's become.

The accuracy. And I'm not just talking about Katy Perry, I'm talking about all those non-ambitious C-list singers out there who didn't even try to be entertaining. They did not have the Beyonce/Gaga spirit in them.
